Directions Disappear going Through Caldecott Tunnel

    When I drive through the Caldecott tunnel (near San Francisco) the gps directions disappear. It says 'recalculating' a couple of times, and I see a purple line going the opposite direction for a split second, and then the blue direction line disappears and does not come back even after exiting the tunnel. I am using the latest 2.2.0 version.

    Does anyone who has a Prius C who has driven through the Caldecott noticed this? The SF dealer said they never heard of this problem before.

    The GPS loses the satellites in the tunnel. NORMAL :eek:

    Note that I also wrote that it "does not come back even after exiting the tunnel." The directions are permanently gone. I need to reselect the destination again for new directions. This is not normal.

    I'm not sure whether the problem is due to:
    a. The GPS software
    b. The Caldecott tunnel
    c. My Prius C

    Since nobody seems to be reporting this I was wondering if there is someone out there who goes through the Caldecott who can confirm.

    My 2013 has the 2.2.0 Sounds like the unit is locking up ? I can't find anyhhing
    related to your problem. You might force the dealer to replace it.

    I've read of this on here before. Extended periods of GPS loss confuses the HU.

    What's weird is this problem can happen right before I enter the tunnel, so there is no period of GPS loss at the time it disappears. I think it thinks I'm going the wrong way, says recalculating a few times, then gives up and stops the directions.

    If only someone can try this on a Prius C I can determine whether its an issue with my car or the software in general. Can anyone near the Caldecott try this?

    I go through that tunnel all the time but the Navi never resets - it just goes into "calculating route" mode after I exit the tunnel.

    Wow, could it be it's just my car? Have you updated the maps on your 2012 C by any chance? What version of the software are you using? Thanks.

    I currently have 2.2.0, never had problems with the NAVI cutting out my destinations when it was at 2.1 or 2.0. either. I'm using the map version that came with the C in 2012.

    Check the "ROUTE OPTION" tab.
    I have "RADIUS FILTER" and "DYNAMIC REROUTE" as "OFF"

    Inside the tunnel's a dead zone, maybe the C's trying to reroute to a "dead" destination and shuts down.

    I have RADIUS FILTER" and "DYNAMIC REROUTE" set to "OFF" as well.
    Can you check what version maps you have? I am using: nqna2010q4

    It says 'recalculating' a couple of times right 'before' I enter the tunnel and the directions disappear shortly after, like when I'm within 20 feet into the tunnel.

    Anyway, the fact that directions don't disappear for you even though you have the same car and same versions may indicate a problem with my system and not the Priusc C GPS system in general. I'm going to complain to my dealer but I'm not sure whether anything can be done for my situation.

    I do have video of what happens so I can show them it really is a problem. Weird.

    I ran into this same issue after going through the Caldecott as well. My dynamic reroute is turned off as well.

    What was the dealer's response?

    please read above post and reset and calibrate nav to fix issue.
    why go to the dealer and when u can do it yourself

    I must have mixed up from another thread.. as I recall reading OP was going to ask dealer.. but I just wanted to know with "reset", put the Dynamic reroute back to on?

    A reset is all it takes.
    U don't have to put dynamic reroute if you don't want to.
