I can not even put in the correct year...because it's that new. I bought a brand new Prius Hybrid plug in On Tuesday Sept 3, had only 156 test miles on it. On Saturday Night Sept 7,2013 the car Hyrid warning lights came on, and I was no longer able to drive the vehicle. It has only 276 miles on it, three days old and having to be towed away. What the heck is this and what kind of Toyota Dealer has the tow driver drop you off home with no car. I am now close to 22 hours later with no car, no rental, and no answer until Monday morning 36 hours later. What is this Toyota Care package that comes with it...that is nothing but BS. What could be wrong with this car or did I get a lemon for a car and dealership?? Please someone help me

Well first off, calm down. I do not know of many Dealers who are open on a Sunday! Sales, yes, repair no! Hopefully the car was towed to a Toyota dealer and dropped off. Monday morning I would think you will want to call the Service Dept. Let them pull the codes and see what happened. With only 256 miles, I think you are under warranty for just about everything! While you are on the phone with service, ask about a loaner car, I bet they give one to you!
Let us know what happens, relax! :)

I wonder about your post. You imply you have a 2014, but Toyota is not selling 2014s on their website in the US
    Toyota Prius Plug-in 2013 | Mid-size Hybrid Car

As far as us being able to give you advice, we need the 'codes' the diagnostics reader sees, either at a dealer or someone with a reader (many parts stores, all mechanics, some owners)

Unless you have contacted Toyota, you most likely are dealing with the dealer, no idea which one, you give no hints where on earth you are.

The roadside assistance number for eligible customers is 800-444-4195.

    Their normal hotline

Why would you assume it's a 2014, look at Janes sign in on the left clearly say 2013

Ok. It stinks that your brand new car has a problem but is it really the saddest thing ever? Perhaps that is a bit (or a lot) melodramatic?

When it comes to dealing with the dealership you really want to take a deep breath and chill out a bit. Ranting about how the service is BS is not going to help at all. You need to look at what is reasonable to expect and as others have mentioned many service departments are closed on Sundays. You might want to go back and review just what covered with the Toyota Care - essentially from what I understand it is little more than some routene maintenance and roadside assistance.

So you may want to be a bit more restrained when you talk to the service folks in the morning. If it were me I'd likely play the sympathy card with them. If your approach is similar to your original post you very well might be written off as a loon with outrageous demands because frankly that is how you came off to me, whether or not that was your intent.

No idea why they claimed they had to lie about the year, it seems to be one of the ways to distract us from being able to help. It is crucial for some folks to mislead you into believing they have some real issue.

:confused:I have to agree. Four days old, and only 120 miles later your new Prius is not drivable and towed back to the dealer. Hopefully, a quick fix. To our new member here, hang in there until tomorrow morning for answers, a fix, and/or transportation until it's resolved. Your situation is unusal for a new Prius. Don't lose faith in your Prius purchase, just yet. .

    Jayne,
    Welcome to the PIP.
I got my Feb. 2012 from Dorschel too.
The Service Dept is ok so far for me.
I love my PIP and hope, after the service, that you will too.

On a Sunday, I'd expect the sales staff ought to have some sort of access to the stock of loaner vehicles for a customer whose new car died that quick.

But that dealer's web site shows even Sales is closed on Sunday. That is unlike the dealerships where I have purchased cars.
Vanderstyne Toyota, also in Rochester, shows Sunday hours for Sales (11a - 4p) and Service (9a-3p). Did you try to contact them on Sunday about emergency service under warranty? Any Toyota dealership should be able to handle warranty service, and I'd hope a competing dealer would love to earn your eternal gratitude, and possibly loyalty.

I sure hope its not driver error that caused the issue with the PIP. Very odd for this car to have any problems. Hope it all works out for you in the morning.

100% agreed, I'm sorry to say this but just relax... your issue will be resolved and odds are the dealership will make it up to you in a favor or two for the hassle.
