How can I mod the DRL to have it on at all time? (for 2013 models)

So, I would like to take this a step further and have the DRL leds dim when the headlights go on. Like Mercedes.

You have to get a drl controller and rewire.

Here's some eBay DRL control modules that might work:

And this one, looks like you can wire it so that the DRLs flash along with the corresponding turn signals. Link 2

I will do this pretty soon. Is there a 'under the hood' wire that I can access rather than the bumper DRL wires?

I'd like to make this change too. Sure would be nice to just jumper power within the fuse box as some suggested ( but needed to see a schematic).

    HOLD ON YO ALL.
You guys are taking this way far. Taking bumper off, rewiring from DRL lights to the fuses... Voiding warranty if tech will see that during the service....
This can be done allot easier, just by adding wire in the fuse box.

Blue relay is the DRL relay.
Without bypassing fuses and rewiring, I took BLUE DRL relay out and jumped the 12V plug to the lights from different source.
Plugged wire from fuse to the center pin of the DRL relay, and here we go.

    DONE DEAL..
    You re welcome....

NOW, here is something to think about.
If you still under warranty, and taking your car to service, I would recommend to put it all back to normal.
Technicians checking all of your lights functionality, checking for bad light bulbs and so on.
If they find out of your "MOD", this can be a problem for you.

But for now, enjoy and good luck...

Only problem I see with my mod is that DRL lights re ON all the time when car is ON.
I would like to tap that relay so DRL's can turn off when light switch is OFF, or fid DRL relay so it stays on.
Now here is what happens, power to the coil of the DRL relay 12V + is always on, only thing switches ( turn relay OFF) is 12V- negative side of the relay coil, if some one has schematic and can trace where the negative wire from DRL relay house is going, we can fix this once and for all, so DRL lights can turn off with the light switch and everything stays on when you want it to.

I would definitely be interested in the Rev. 2 mod scooter4n suggests if/when it is discovered.
(shameless bump of scooter4n's great idea) ;)

Anyone know what wires to jump so that the "parking/corner lights" are setup to be used as DRL? I'd much rather use the "auto" lights function on my headlight stalk, but would rather have parking lights on at all times as DRL (which also illuminate the rear tail lights) rather than just the DRL front lights.

    1 of 2 things happened:

    1) U pulled the fuse with the prius still powered on.

    2) when u added the wire in the fuse, the fuse didn't make full contact causing the error.

If it's done correctly, u shouldn't have had the error.

U can use a OBDII scanner, tech stream, scan gauge II to clear the error. If it comes back, the wire tap isn't allowing the fuse to make full contact.

The turn signal lights are a better option for DRLs because they are brighter than the parking lights. I don't believe the parking lights would be visible in bright sun.

The webelectric module is perfect for this. PriusChat member Offline has a writeup in the Prius v forum with pics. I believe he had also uploaded instructions on the webelectric website as well.

No mod required? Just leave parking lights on at all times. I don't know if all Prius are equipped with delayed headlight shutoff. My 2012 is and that is how I pulled into work this morning.

I do just in general leave the parking lights on at all times. I would like to use the "auto" function on the headlight stalk. This function automatically turns on the headlights once it detects low light levels like if you were driving into a tunnel, under a bridge, into a parking structure, or daylight is fading away.

This is different from the headlight auto shutoff feature when the headlights turn off by a defined timer after the vehicle is turned off.

Bump. Any conclusion to this to having drl led lights to turn on and off with the stalk switch along with the headlights?

Easily done with a relay and a wire tap.
