Prius C - Flasher Relay

I never found one and just got the V-LED Triton v3s. They have built in resistors.

 

I got the 7440 and used the rubber grommet from the OEM base and it fits perfect. It's really expensive though but it is bright as f like they advertised.

 

i plan on getting the v3s for the front and rear too. but i really dont want to use resistors, its basically wasting energy, i really hope somebody can guide us to the flasher relay

 

You don't need flasher relays with the Triton v3s, they have it built in.

 

they dont have a relay built in, they have a resistor to get rid of the fast flashing when changing to leds. the resistor is a low class way of doing it. i would much reather upgrade to a led flasher relay.

 

I know. I stated that in an earlier post. I'm saying you don't need a flasher and I don't think there is a relay on the C. I've taken it apart and looked at the usual spots.

 

and i also stated that i know they have resistors but if you know how resistors work, they are basically wasting energy. i would much rather upgrade the relay and get rid of that resistor that comes on the v3s.

 

I wish you luck in finding where the relay is, if there is one to replace. I agree it's better but fine with using what I have in the meantime.

 

Wasting energy, LOL... Better not use headlights or turn your stereo or fan on either...

 

The resistors don't technically waste energy. Compared to OEM they use about the same.

The "flasher" looks to be a part of a computer board and is NOT replaceable.
The resistors are about the only option.

What's the point of changing them out in the first place......if you can NOT put in something that uses less energy and runs cooler ??

i dont understand whats so funny about my wasting energy comment? if you can avoid it, then why not? thats all i am saying. its the same thing as reving the engine at a stand still. why do it when you can avoid it?

if the relay is onboard then its not even an option to change and the only way to go is either stick with halogens or leds with resistors.

 

The savings would not even register by the time it hit the battery... It's not like the blinkers are ON constantly. or HIGH draw bulbs/units.

 

It would be MUCH better if you would "quote" the post you are commenting about so that we'all won't take offense when the comment was intended for someone else.

I don't think your energy comment was funny exactly but the amount involved with turn signals is truly insignificant for most people.

NOW.......take that tiny amount and multiply it times a few million cars and it becomes significant.
I suspect that the car makers are slowly changing over to LEDs, mostly for aesthetic reasons, but it will have a small impact on overall energy use too.

 

I just located mine, it was a pain but if you take off the left panel, there is a white plastic housing for electronics and wires going in it that had a 10mm bolt on top and on the bottom, slide out towards you a little then way in the back up high is a blue relay that you can't get out, I tried so I squeezed the locking plastic and pulled down to unplug then plugged the new 8pin I got off eBay for 8$ shipped and all my led's don't hyper flash any more. I used the spot light 360 SMD Cree lights and they are super bright. Really like the led's!! Forget the load resistors it defeats the purpose of going led. Plus the load resistors get super hot and can melt or burn your car down.
