Went in to have my tail lights smoked out and the sales guy tried to sell me on this. AquaTune.com - AquaTune Water Injection Systems. 25% better fuel economy, 30% increase in HP, lowers emissions, and the list goes on and on. Anyone know about this? He said a local guy did it and now gets 62 mpg. Sounds too good to be true.

Never heard of it but did a search on google and read multiple hits.

Depending on what the guy was getting before, 62mpg could be a lot or a little but at a cost of $780 thats a lot of gas. And with the sensors on the Prius, I'd be hesitant of something going crazy and causing the car to just shut off requiring dealer intervention.

I saw what you posted in your "Dream Ride" thread and I said uh-oh. It looks like a more fancy iteration and polished presentation, but it sounds a lot like what was discussed here:

Hydrogen Fuel Cell on my Prius gives me 65mpg+ going 65mph | PriusChat

I think it is most likely a scam and best case negligible improvement. Dyno results are less than impressive: AquaTune.com - AquaTune Water Injection Systems. I don't know dyno's, but I would think the reported 2 HP or 3-4 Ft lbs of torque would probably be meaningless and likely within the margin of error of testing.

Has anyone tired this system or have any feedback on it?

AquaTune.com - AquaTune Water Injection Systems for Aqua Tuning

    Description:
This system is 60% hydrogen production and 40% water injection. The water is brought up to the processor by venturi vacuum which is created by a venturi injector nozzle. This, then, maintains a strong vacuum signal to the processor all the way through the power band. This vacuum is pulled through the processor at 1200 feet per second. This air enters into the resident echo chamber where the tuning fork is located. This keep the frequency constant.
As the water is brought into the echo chamber, the water is violently torn apart by cavitation and frequency as well as a static charge. This, in turn, loosens the bond between the hydrogen atom and the oxygen molecule. Hence, the cracking of the water. This cracked water now enters into the hydrogen generator powered by a 12 volt power source.
Because the water is cracked, it is extremely easy to separate the hydrogen from the oxygen using only 1.5 amps to produce 2.5 Liters of hydrogen per minute. There are two functions to the hydrogen generator: a small pass-way in the generator allows a portion of the cracked water to pass through. This stabilizes the hydrogen. This, then, expands the fossil fuel during the compression cycle. When this mixture goes though the combustion cycle you have a more complete burn rate and, because of the higher compression and a cooler burn rate, you have more horsepower.
The rich, robust combustion passing the O2 sensor tells the computer to hold back on the fuel without using any kind of computer manipulators. This will be easy to see with a computer scanner as it will show both the long-term and the short-term fuel trims to be in the negative range.
This in turn gives a promise of 25% better fuel mileage and up to 30% more horse power.
Couple of testimonials for Prius owners from web site.
August 13, 2013: I installed the AquaTunePlus hb system on my '04 Toyota Prius, 4 cyl. and boy, am I pleased. I have tried any number of different hydrogen products for the last five years and this is the only one that I have found to work. You would have thought that I would have given up long before finding your product but, yours just made more sense. And sure enough, I went from 49 mpg to all the way up to 75mpg. The horsepower increase is quite impressive. I noticed that sometimes I would drop down to 68 mpg and what is strange is was mostly when I was traveling at a slight decline. Even at that, I am extremely pleased with the results. Happy customer in Oregon. J.M.
February 2013: Just a quick note to tell you how truly thankful I am for the fine work your distributor in Virginia did on my '00 Toyota Prius, 1.8L. Prior to the installation of the AquaTune system, my fuel economy was at an even 48 mpg. Now I'm at 85 mpg highway and anywhere from 63-64 mpg in town. This truly is a marvelous product that you have. Thanks again. Customer in Virginia
Basic setup around 800.00 - seems like you could go high tech and spend a lot if you like maybe up two 2,000 thousand when buying upgrades.

What's an '00 Prius? It certainly didn't come with a 1.8L engine.

I guess my thought is that if "water injection" was such a promising tech for economy and emissions, why wouldn't the automakers use it? So in my mind, it either doesn't work or it is not able to be incorporated reliably.

I've been a huge proponent of water injection for years, not for Eco mpg yada yada but for high powered turbo cars. Very reliable and impressive gains.

Bogus claims and the dealer in East Tennessee will not make good on his installation. He took out my unit which wasn't working and said he would get me the new generation. Now, he won't do even return calls or texts. He should be avoided in general.
