The bridge shot looked cool to me, although I did think that maybe this was after the zombie apocalypse. I've never seen it without traffic;)

The second is more explicit than the first even though they both say the same thing so that might click in with the audience. The first might be mistaken as a regular Prius ad for the uninformed.

Third one didn't work for me, if it's ordinary people it has to be straight vox pops. First was good for catching attention, and would work over here as well. But I suspect the most universal is the second. Even though I'm going to identify with the Dad, I still like it. Just don't try and make it British by flipping the picture and re dubbing the actors...

I know Toyota has planned the death of the EV in favor of the hydrogen car - but the competition doesn't seem to have the same fate in mind for the EV. I sure hope Toyota can pull it together after throwing so much money down the rabbit hole:

IMO - now "THAT's the way to run an AD.

I'm a little troubled by the content, but it definitely is geek chic, and targeted to a totally different demographic than the toyota fcv.

Geek-chic hamsters tout Kia Soul EV on video awards
"The Soul EV is lifting the entire brand," Sprague said. "It will serve as the focus of our Clean Mobility campaign."

He said studies showed that "consumers were rejecting us because they were perceiving us as environmentally unfriendly because we didn't offer a hybrid. So we offered a hybrid. Then consumers said their expectations had changed and we weren't offering an electric vehicle. So now we're offering an electric vehicle."

The gas-electric hybrid is the Optima sedan hybrid. The 2014 model Optima hybrid -- along with the electric Soul -- was unveiled at the Chicago auto show in February. Kia is selling about 1,000 Optima hybrids a month.

Hyundai sells about twice as many Sonata hybrids, mechanically similar to the Kia. Toyota Prius, the iconic hybrid, notches roughly 20,000 sales a month lately.

Officially Soul EV, going on sale in this quarter for an as-yet-unannounced price, is Kia's "first-ever mass-marketed electric vehicle." Realistically, it might never become a mass-market machine.

see now, if the Kia ad were being produced by Lexus, they'd have to sling mud all over there ev plugin - saying plugin's are only for people who have 4 hours to waste. The sister companies Hyundai & Kia at least don't throw their own product vehicles under the bus. They at least manage to find harmony between both Electric and hydrogen & will try to produce both. They are willing to let the best technology win. I can at least respect that.
    Really? . . . . . more than the "Prius People"?

Thank Gawd! Professional commercials for adults!

Put the Spanish language commercials out too . . . perhaps one translated into Southern?

9/09/2000 is when I bought my first Prius. That's just 5 days shy of 14 years ago. (y)

This is a photo I took on that memorable day:

zombie alert - but john, I forgot to mention it when you posted this. Our neighbors Bob & Becky had the same model and color. Their happiness with their gen 1 was what got us to get our gen II in '04. 5 years ago, at age 50, Becky passed away from Alzheimer's, and Bob moved to Washington. I saw to it yjsy one of my co-workers got to buy their 'extra' car, their gen 1. Bob kept their hyhi. My co-worker David drove it 'till it had 300k on it, and now he has a gen III. Great cars allow for great relationships, because you know if you sell to friends/family it's not a lemon you're getting from them.
