Look, I'm not going to waste my time copying a section of the owners manual and putting it here in a post.

    Read your owners manual.
If you don't have one, get one.

If PC is the subject, why does your profile show a different Prius model ??

you hold the fob up to the start button and push the button, no battery required. i don't know how else to explain it.

    I googled it.
It took about a minute to find another thread here that explains it fully, at least, to my satisfaction.

The Prius C does not have a start button, it has a ignition key which puts the car in Ready.

    .
My initial post had to do with the amazing quality of the 12 V battery. As I said, I had apparently killed the battery at least 5 times, and after recharging / jumpering everything is normal. That is a significant difference and improvement over the Gen 2 12v on my 2005 Prius. I was never talking about the FOB.

Not a problem Bisco. I was hoping somebody else had observed the difference in the C battery. I think Prius Engineers gave the car a new fail plateau, allowing the battery not to drain so deeply, thereby saving its usefulness for next time. They probably made this improvement to all their Hybrids. Clever. Actually the same precautions they take with the HV battery.

    But then you WERE.

And asking questions that you should have been able to answer for yourself.......having 3 of them no less.

And then giving out bad information:
My '13 C3 absolutely DOES have a start button. If any of them don't, I suspect it is only the 1 model.
And finally, there have been several C owners here who have had trouble with their 12V battery and when the car is newer than 5 years old too.

Your assumption about the C somehow having a better battery just doesn't make sense.
If Toyota realized that there was a problem with the old brand/style of batteries, there is no good reason why they wouldn't change over ALL of their production, not just for the C.

I do not object to your opinions as long as they are positive. The objective of this forum is to educate not to criticize. I will be blocking you and urge others to do the same. You may crawl back to the wormwood.

. Whatever changes they made I think it's incorporated into the whole car. Remember, it was not very long ago ( Gen 2 ). When people were trudging down to the store for a new. 12 V. It would be nice if Toyota included the customer in the updating of these improvements. They never do.

they probably went with a power shutdown after so many minutes so the battery wouldn't drain.

Not the key. You hold the dead fob to the start button and it sends a RF signal to the car letting it know that you have the "code" to start the car.
