Will disconnecting the 12V battery erase the codes and allow restart? Have been stranded twice in 12 months by car not going to ready at all. First time on arriving home.......2d time in the middle of nowhere...that required 90 mile tow to dealer on a Sunday. They scanned it and said they don't know why it happens but if I pay them they will chase all the possible causes....at my cost.

Could this be as simple as having a bad 12v battery?

To answer your question, YES. It'll erase the codes and if there's enough juice, it'll start. HOWEVER, if there's a code preventing the car to start, it's best you try to figure that out and not just erase the code.....just for your safety

Dealer scan said could be 1 or more of 13 things and wants me to pay for each chase. Cost $100 for them to start it. All they did is clear the codes.

If they charged you to scan, they have the codes that pinpoint the problem. Ask them for it, you did pay for them

Like I said, they said 13 things could do it. Just pay them for each pursuit.

unfortunately, when someone spends time working on your car, they rarely do it for free, even if it's diagnosis. i would test the 12v as jc recommended.

You can ask for the 13 codes......which is not likely to have. We'll run them down for you

Ask for the DTC (code). I am willing to bet you have a P0AA6 and if you do, you will need to get a three digit info code to trace the location.

I took 12V to advance auto. Load test said was better than new! Don't think that is the culprit.
