I just happen to service my personal machines using a modified severer duty cycle. First initial oil change is important (to me) to get rid of the break-in contaminants. Sealant, moly, sand, metal, ect... Although technology has improved many things over the years, there is no such thing lifetime fluids (what ever that really means ).

The lifetime fluid probably translate to Toyota's meaning of 180k miles, the projected life of the Prius.

Toyota (and Honda) have what I consider the best reliable products in this price market, but I still consider their scheduled service plan for the Prius lacking. I'm not going to argue engine oil because that's all it will end up being. However, the recommended transmission fluid service has already been proven wrong and now they just upped the brake flush to 30K miles...same basic car, same Dot 3 fluid. Look...I've made an Escort and a Pinto last over 300,000 miles each, so I must be doing something right. Most folks just gas-and-go, some of us do not. Do what you will with your machines...I do.

After these pictures were taken, the perforated leather seat skins were changed out for solid leather. Note, I purchased a Level II so I could do things "my way".

    20140920_140338.jpg IMHO
Brake Fluid on Prius 100,000 miles.
Engine Coolent/Inverter Coolant 75,000 - 100,000 miles depending on your driving style.
Transaxle Fluid - Changed mine at 5,000 miles to clear particulate based on Bob Wilson's posts, every 30,000 miles thereafter.

    That's how I roll...

A simple and honest disagreement is NOT trolling........unless it disagrees with something YOU said, it seems.

I have an appointment to have my transaxle fluid change this week. Can't wait to see what the fluid looks like after 29,700ish miles.

Based on pictures we have seen of pretty low miles g3
    Pretty ugly.
Or u could be a real cool guy and send off a sample to

Wearcheck.com now merged with Lubriguard and get a UOA done in it. We have lots of g2 samples but very few g3. They offer free Tan report.

BTW I would do the trans at 10000 miles as that's where all the wear is and the inverter coolant at 30000. I did my g2 trans at 5k miles and it looked pretty dark. Subsequent changes and UOA looked good. The inverter coolant takes a beating as it circulates through a huge pure aluminum cross section that the ice coolant does not. Very corrosive.
The Inverter. Is the heart and soul and workhorse of the car. It deserves special attention and is incredibly easy to change.

So you say to change the coolant at 30,000 miles, I would like to ask/see how many others on this site follow this advise? I don't disagree with you, you can never change any of the fluids in a car too soon, it only helps keep your car going longer. I did not even think of an early coolant change. When you say the fluid becomes corrosive what are you concerned with, the pumps?

I agree with @orenji . I think every 30k on coolant either inverter or engine is too excessive. At every 30k, some of us put that in a year, so we change the coolant once a year? Everyone is getting a bit carried away or just straight up paranoid with all these fluid changes. I say we just change the fluid at every oil change interval and be done with it. That way, the hybrid will last forever.(y)

Yes pump wear. Prius hard on Inverter. coolant but
    Easy on ice coolant.
Ice coolant is difficult to change due to
Vaporlock issues. Bettrt off just dumping the rad only a few times and use fresh sllc. But inverter. Very easy.
Prius extremely easy on brake fluid and brakes.

So I spoke to the mechanics at Luscious Garage, a very reputable shop in San Francisco who have actually dealt with alot of high mileage prius beacuse they handle alot of the prius cabs in the bay area upwards of 200,000 miles on these cabs and they recommend inverter/coolant service at 100,000 mile intervals. I trust them that's why I went there for my ATF. Saving my $$ for more mods. Haha

Yup. But Luscious Garage does recommend 30,000 mile intervals on the ATF.

seems to be a consensus for those who keep their cars long term. the good thing is, it's cheap and easy.
