Didn't see it posted anywhere, so I'm linking to a very nice writeup from January at The Best Hybrid Car | The Wirecutter

Absolutely true that the 2015 Two is very well equipped now that the backup camera is standard.

The article was one of the influences that helped me choose a 2015 Prius. It's honestly one of the most well thought out and detailed comparisons I have read - unusual for car reviews, but par for the course for thewirecutter.com .

i tell ya, if you can pick up a Two for 20k, it may be the best car value in history.

I'm afraid Toyota might "fix it"...but yes, IMO the entry level standard Prius is actually a very good bargain.
A lot of the things that come standard on a Prius are luxury options on most other vehicles.

That being said? My 2013 did NOT come with a back-up camera. I wish it did. Or that now that they are standard across the board, at least I could upgrade to the factory camera.
I asked my dealership and while they can add a back-up camera evidently the Toyota OEM that is being installed now on every standard Prius is not available as a dealers installed option.

With the addition of the back-up camera, that just improves what I already felt was a good deal.

I believe there are posts on how to add a backup camera on this site, probably cheap to add one and if you can't do it yourself, should be 1 hour labor at most.

I was contemplating a 2015 two before I decided on my Persona, and I'd be driving a two right now if I would have been able to get one for 20k or so, unfortunatley they were going for a few grand more at that point… darn, even at 22k its a smoking deal!

Great article, thank you for posting it! Last week, I bought a 2015 Prius Two for about $22,000. In my opinion, right now (March-April) is the best time to buy/lease the Prius due to the end of the quarter deals. Couldn't wait to trade in my 2012 Hyundai Elantra. Best choice I have ever made; this article speaks the truth!!!!

True, BUT if your other options in new vehicle picks is about the same price as a Prius, you don't have a "premium" to offset because you would have spent as much on one of your other choices. I could have spent less than I did on my Prius, but those cars really weren't on my "desired" list.

More like 3-4 hours if you take your time and do it right, but definitely cheaper than having bought a higher model just for the backup camera.

Thank you for the link to the very interest and comprehensive article. Here is a quote from the article that may be a bit controversial among the engineering experts on this forum.

"Aside from favorable conditions, our Cliff’s Notes for besting the official fuel economy numbers of a Prius included accelerating slowly, braking early, and coasting as often as possible. That said, a slightly more advanced course of keeping the car on battery power as long as possible is what got us firmly over 50 MPG."

Yes, for good reason. There are several misstatements in that article. Most of them appear to be due to ignorance, not deliberate distortion.

If it was or was near the best car value in history, why does Toyota sell about 10k of them a month while Camry, Corolla or Altimas sell 30k a month in US?
Maybe you meant best value among hybrids.

Last sentence in first paragraph is false: Says Prius Two doesn't cost much more than comparable non hybrid. What comparable non hybrid? A Corolla?

Tons of people compare Prius to Corolla: Same length, same wheelbase, same HP, and Prius has disadvantage that many prefer a trunk and Corolla costs thousands less.

corolla is much smaller. but it and camry are generally the best value on the road. not hybrid value though.

Agree with you on Corolla, but the author mentions further down in the article that he chose the Ford Focus Hatchback as his comparable non hybrid - and that is certainly a fair comparison. A Focus SE hatchback with automatic (technically, DCT ;) )'s TrueCar price in my neck of the woods is $19,363, and a Prius Two's TrueCar price is $20,576, so his comparison certainly holds up financially.
