    Rodney,

What next on the list? How about strobe light in the front or rear of your ride? For show of course.

HEY THERE PRIUS CHAT FOLKS !!!

    :):):):)

I've completed the Latest Modification product to HBII :

Toyota OEM Side Marker Lamps !!!

Side Marker Lamps are standard equipment not only here in the US, but elsewhere around the world. I wanted to install this added safety feature to the HBII Prius !!!

    Here are my pix !!!

These particular Toyota OEM Side Marker Lamps were manufactured in France !!!

    The Lamps overview ...

    Desired Location
    Driver & Passenger Front Fenders

    Alignment

I headed over to the great folks at Imperial Body Shop in La Habra, California for their expertise ...

Using the rubber seal, they used it as a template for the hole to be drilled ...

Almost done with the Driver Side and Passenger Side !!!

After the tight test fittting ...

    The holes were completed !!!

After the great install, it was time to head home and touch up the bare metal exposed from the process ...

Cleaned the location and paint touched up ...

Then it was time for the wiring connection process ...

Removed the wheels and lifted the Prius

    Removed the headlamps

**For My Particular Installation I wanted the Turn Signal Lamps to serve a Dual Purpose : To function Both as a Parking Lamp as well as a Turn Signal Lamp**

Located the OEM wiring for the Turn Signal Lamps)

    Driver Side : Yellow Wire = +
    Passenger Side : Green = +
Both Sides : White / Black = Ground

(Not Shown : Wiring for the Parking Lamps)

Wiring from the side fender holes, through the inside of the fender, and to the front of the vehicle. This was easily accessed through the plastic fender wheel well shroud.

For the Side Marker Lamp Two Prong Connections :

I used an insulated connector :

I then tested the lamps :

Replaced the OEM Orange Bulb to a High Intesity LED. I purchased the 6000k color to match the existing LEDs on the Prius.

Because I wanted these lamps to serve a dual function of Parking and Flashing, I utilized this product :

    The exLED USA control unit.

With two power sources connected (Parking and Flashing), it will interrupt the power connection when both sources are feeding power. This will create the flash. Please see the videos at the end of the post !!!

I then made the connections :

IN : (To 2 Power Sources and Ground)
    Yellow = Flashing
    Blue = Ground
    White = Parking

OUT : (To Side Marker Lamp)
    Red = Power
    Blue = Ground

    I then reinstalled everything

    And then VOILA !!!

Here are the VIDEOS taken at night, displaying the 2 features that I intended.

*** Please Click on Each Individual Video !!! ***

    01. On with the Parking Lamps

    02. Flashing with the Signal Lamps

    (DAY Time)

    (NIGHT Time w/Parking Lamps on)

And because the lamps are connected with the Flashing Lamps, it also served as a lamp with the Vehicle Arm/Disarm feature.

Overall I'm very satisfied with the Modification !!!

With the added safety for the side of the vehicle, the added lamp has complemented the JDM Side Mirror Lamps !!!

Stay Tuned for More Folks !!!

At onetime some idiot almost hit my mirrors. All i did was pray man. I'm glad it didn't. Next time i will push the fold button.

I guess you just have to buy the OEM mirrors and swap the motor and 3 in one led if you can save it. Otherwise you have to buy the pair again.
