What would you do for prius 2010 with 128,761 miles that is burning oil? i have paid to change the spark plugs and PCV valve. I never could find the damn PCV valve. I just change the oil at 127,190 miles and the stick shows it. The white arrow shows the level of oil at the last change. How do you compute the loss in terms of quarts?
Well the ticks shows that much oil lost for a mere 1,571 miles. Unbelievable, i just fill it a month ago.. I am using Mobil1 0-20W but i will use 5-20w unless anyone has other oil type suggestions

    thanks

Hi.. I changed the oil on May 25 at 127,190 miles and i put about 3.5 quarts (approximation, i use less than gallon). I read here many options, change to 10W-30 (even though toyota says 0 or 5w-20) but since i have a problem i will change to thicker oil..
I am curious about piston soak but i just changed the spark plugs

If your car is from 2010, gen 3, it takes 4.4 quarts. That can explain why your dipstick shows half way.

From the top mark to the bottom marks on the dipstick, it's 1.6 quarts

Yeah, I'm confused too. Is this how much it's dropped??

Between the two dimples is about 1.5 quarts, fwiw.

(I like how you continue to call it the damn PCV valve, in your postings. It has that effect on people, for sure.)

If you're on Win7 or later:

Type "snip" in the search field of start menu. Then right-click the search result, choose properties, and assign it a hot key, say "S".

Then anytime you want to use it you just type <ctrl> <alt> S. It pops up, your screen goes kinda white, and you can click and drag a rectangle on any part of screen.

You can save snips, default is the Pictures library, name "capture.jpg". Just keep saving it with that name, very easy to find. If you need two or three, make 'em capture02, capture03 and so on.

No way. Then 4.4 will top over the upper dimple. Any case what oil grade and should I fill one quart drive around and fill another. I am in the store literally

What's your current oil level, pick a number?

    Capture.JPG

Again, the distance between the two dimples is about 1.5 quarts. Get a couple of quarts, and figure out later?

i would start with the 5-20, and keep going up until it stops burning.

I would wait and check at another 1000 miles to see where you're at before adding another quart. You are only about 1/4 quart shy of the full dimple.
