Did you provide the amazon.com link just to indicate a potential source; or did you buy and install those particular sensors yourself?

No I did not buy it yet I was just thinking it might be the way to go. Just posting review of another Prius. Correct me if I am wrong, to install this device goes inside rim, so you'd have to take the tire off. and you need someone who has the program device for setting it up for Prius. I will call my local shop soon to see what they propose.

You're right; in conjunction with tire replacement a good time is. (Channeling Yoda)

Amazon lets you enter your vehicle to verify fit; fwiw says 2010 Prius is compatible too.

I did not know this on the 2005. But I also have a 2012 prius 42000 miles on it and had a new set of tires put on it about 40000 miles and did't have a problem with it

OK well there is a little button battery inside the device in each tire, so after about 8-10 years you gotta replace the whole device and the cost at Toyota is probably $100+ per tire. And you can't disable the flashing light on the dash.

Just that the warning light is on and cannot be disabled...don't know if states require fix for inspections.

Still, it's good if the price is coming down. The concept is attractive, just the implementation is expensive/complicated.

Had an employee call in once that they would be late: flat tire. The two truck was coming to put on the spare. Got a call a couple hours later that they were at the dealer and won't make it in to work at all. I asked why and the person said there was a light on the dash and they will not drive it with an engine light on. TPMS, I hate you!

We drive all winter with that terrible tpms light on. I mean, just down and to the right, there's lights telling you the status of the passenger seat air bag; no one pays them any mind.

Wow. Talked to my mechanic. They want $60 to test the four tires for bad sensors, $170 per tire to replace the bad ones, and $60 for reprogramming. NOT needed to pass inspection in Virginia, thank gosh.

Might try one of the wireless systems on Amazon. There is a smart phone system called FOBO that a few here have mentioned, and the Tesla guys have been using/doing some group buys.

Wow! Go get 4 Dorman 974-033 from Amazon for $31.49 each.

Then go to Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels and search for an installer. I found one who charged me about $10/tire to replace the sensors. I used my own Techstream to register the new sensors. Be sure to record the ids on the new sensors before they're installed.

Yeah maybe tire places are the way to go. I have a TireRack installer so he should be willing to help.
