NiMH is just heavier than LiIon, but the Two has the fewest options so the entire car is not heavier than the Three or Four. The Two Eco is lighter, in part due to the LiIon battery

and again, they don't test each model individually. it's like doing your taxes, report whatever you want, but if you get audited, it better be right.:p

Its hard to believe that the two perform the same, but it does simplify things for us simple folk(y)

How much more expensive is the Li-Ion to replace down the road compared to the Nihm? Does anyone know?

NiMH costs have come down by several thousand in the last ten years, LiIon should as well. It will be a moving target.

I know the high capacity electric RC car and helicopter Li-Ion packs cost anywhere from $100-over $300, compared to $30-80+ for high quality Nimhs.

Toyota used to opportunity to use Li-Ion to reduce weight rather than increase output. Therefore, there's a smaller (and lighter) physical battery under the seat of those with Li-Ion batteries than those with NiMH.

And the -reason- they could go "smaller" (the Li-Ion has less A-Hrs than the NiMH) is because the Li-Ion is more efficient in charge and discharge, so they can operate it closer to the limits of full charge and full discharge. There are also half as many cells in the Li-Ion. That -should- translate to better reliability, but we will see in the next 5 years or so.

So with the Li-Ion you get a multiplier effect - you can use a smaller capacity battery AND the battery uses much lighter parts so the finished part is much lighter. I still don't think even as much as 50 lb would cause a noticeable change in fuel economy. I think it is a result of the testing parameters. The weight is used in "corrective formulie" .

The exit screen does not but perhaps another info screen shows it. simple calculations come out to 28 mph average speed. It was stop and go traffic south west Florida

I'm noticing it's easier to get to EV mode at 55mph + also can stay in EV mode longer when I accelerate

Great stuff! Roundtrips are more realistic though.
