The compressor won't run unless the HVAC controller wants to run it. Why doesn't it want to? That's what the codes it has given you are probably trying to tell you.

PATRICK!!!!!! I am sitting in my nice cool cab with the windows up. Temp dropping as I add refrigerant. I retried your sequence of adding freon, disconnected the battery for 10 min, and restarted the system. Cold air! Thank you so much. You are my hero! Lol

Same problem is yours 2006 prius a/c compresor when bad. I replaced with a salvage one (good one) vacuum the lines and compressor won't engage and it won't take the freon. what was your solution.? I see Patrick's instructions did this help you.? If so can you go in more detail thanks.

Vac system, disconnect from battery to clear codes (I did for 10 min but not necessary to clear that long I don't think), add freon with the car OFF. For me I added a 12 oz can for about 10 minutes before I started the car. Compressor engaged, cold air.....continued to add till can is empty.

My system isn't completely full as full is around 15 OZ I believe, but I am getting 44-48 degrees at the vent. Works fantastic.......430,000 miles <bragging>.

Patrick, please correct me if I missed something.
