Probably not. It's easier to criticise something than to actually make the effort to look up facts. Also, it's easier to say "well if that's the case, you prove it" and thus, reducing workload for the instigator.

Here's a thread with photos of the underside of a 2010 Prius to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. The first photo is the front of the car, the last photo is the rear of the car.

photos taken of the bottom of my Prius | PriusChat

In the first photo, you can see the oil pan access for draining the oil. With the camera angle, you can see how flat the underside of the car is to reduce disturbing the airflow. It's hard to see the front spats in front of the wheels because they're nearly perpendicular to the camera. You can see it in the 2nd photo.

In the 2nd photo, if you look at the bottom right of the photo, you can see the front spat I speak off with a hole on the inner side of the car for air to bypass. You see the curvy airflow channels in the middle of the car along with the centre chassis stiffening brace. You see the fuel tank on the left side where the exhaust bends around it. You can also see the rear spats in front of the rear wheels (so to the right of the rear wheels i the photo)

In the last photo, you see the stabilising fins as well as the rear tow hook.

Thanks for all that information. That's good stuff!

On a different note, I was behind a new red Gen4 for about 5 miles this morning. My opinion about the single bulb brakelights has changed. They are very bright and nice looking.

It's kind of odd, but that red color didn't look red this morning. It was very overcast and kind of drizzly. And I was thinking to myself, what color is that?? Still very nice looking, but the red color must change when the sun is out. Nice looking touring model.

Good observation. I should mention that my red Prius (a.k.a. The Spaceship) also has a paint job that seems to come alive and glitter under bright sunlight, but once it's cloudy or downright overcast, it seems to take on an entirely different type of red colour. I thought it was just my imagination, but it took me months to realise it really does look different depending on the atmospheric light conditions.

    Curiously intriguing!

That's true. I'm being a little sarcastic. I DO enjoy the shimmer & sheen during the ONE day a month it's actually clean. (Wash day. :D)

This is why it looks much more dramatic under the sunlight. It's also why it's a premium paint (at least in North America) vs. the last metallic red which was a "free" colour option.

I rarely see a '16. Probably only seen 3 - 4 times at the very most since they came out. I live in a very stuck-up area where most of the community drives luxury car makes and gas-guzzling soccer mom SUV's.

Fanatic, this caught my attention because your profile says Plano - I grew up in Plano and now we live in Murphy. You seem about my age also (31). Crazy! There are a lot of luxury cars here (especially on the west side), but I do see quite a few gen 3s like mine also. There are not many gen 4s though, although I have seen a couple.

I was surprised yesterday when I pulled up behind a Blizzard Pearl 2016 which had license plates that expire Dec. 2016.
I don't know when the 2016s hit the sales floor, but he was one of the early adopters I imagine.

I live in California in a remote area but I recently took a trip to Utah. I still haven't seen a single 2016 model on the road. I've seen only a few other previous year models. A dearth of Prii.

They are starting to pop up here in the Southeast. I hadn't seen any in this region for a while after I bought mine but in the last few days I've seen 4 or 5 while on my daily commute.

Toyota must be doing a roaring trade in the UK. Particularly in London, where a large number of them are being used as mini-cabs.

Every time I go for a drive, there are Gen 4 Prii everywhere! But then, there are probably as many Prii in London, as there are in California.

I dropped by my local Toyota Dealership last weekend, and found exactly NO Gen 4s on display. And none in the display parking lot either. ALL SOLD OUT. Like I said, there's a core group of drivers from certain professions who LOVE the Prius. They're literally flying out of the dealerships here!
Oh, and they're not all being appropriated for mini-cab use. There are loads of private ones too! I suspect car hire firms have got their orders in too - and taken delivery. In 2 or 3 years, the number of Gen 4s will dramatically increase, when the car hire firms start replacing these Gen 4s they presently have, and those cars end up in dealerships as used car sales. Handy for those who cannot afford to buy brand new. Can't wait!

According to this article, there are 12,500 Prius registered for use as minicabs in London. Green Tomato Cars: Racing to stay ahead in a low-emission world

Whilst that sounds a lot, according to the last govt statistics published in 2015 (2016 data expected soon), there are 62,800 minicabs in London. So whilst the Prius might appear to be everywhere, the majority of minicabs in London are not a Prius. Can traditional minicab firms survive the onslaught of Uber?

In terms of people buying a Prius as an individual, this article suggests only 28% of Prius sales in the UK will be to private buyers. First drive: the new Toyota Prius | Top Gear

Actually, I don't believe that there are as many Prii in London as there are in California. I did some research. According to Toyota's sales figures, and just at the Prius model alone, 3,361 were sold in the UK in 2015. Contrast that with the state of California where in 2015, 72,040 were sold. Honda leads California new-car sales for 2015 - LA Times

I'm a geek who works with data, hence me sharing all these statistics :) I live in the suburbs of London, and I saw one or two Gen 4s this week. I opened my window and tried to wave at them as they drove towards me, and sigh, they didn't even make eye contact. :-(
