I notice they got rid of the white console tray on 2017 Prius!

Well it was the last year of that generation. I thought it was fine when it came out in 2003 but yeah by the end of the decade, fake wood trim really was on its way out for the non-luxury cars. (Yeah I know the Camry XLE and Accord EX-L models still used them).

But at that time, Toyota's aluminium trim wasn't particularly convincing. The Echo/Yaris had it as a dealer-installed accessory and while it did have some pattern to give it a liquid look, it clearly looked plastic. The silver trim pieces on the Gen 10 Corolla's centre stack were ok. The Gen 2 Prius had satin silver trim so it looked a bit darker. That was changed to bright silver plastic for Gen 2.5. I prefer the more subtle satin silver than the bright silver. The "metallic-tech" trim on the Gen 2 TCH was cool too. It matched the Ash interior.

I checked that - it's definitely OFF. Somehow the file system for MP3s has it's own sort order. I understand that you can edit MP3 files to sort it out, but that would be for every time I saved files to a USB stick.

I'll stick to RW-CD for things which should be in a set order until I can afford a new phone which might be able to do it differently.

Yeah.... I too tried a memory stick and the functionality seemed too limited for me. I ended up purchasing an iPod touch and put all my music and other audio files on it. I like to listen to podcasts and audio books as well so the iPod interface works nicely. I do have an Android phone and the functionality through the bluetooth interface isn't up to par with the iPod USB connection.

I've got a couple of MP3 Players I use when walking or working around the house - resisted the iPod so far - maybe I need to go have a look at one. Will a simple iPod Shuffle work on it the same?

I'd have thought so. Basically the same apple tech. :)

As far as I know, they have to use the AUX jack (which has fewer functions). You could try plugging it into the USB port and see if the system recognises it as a USB device.

Not sure about the Shuffle. The Nano software links up and you will have your playlists. The Sansa clip won't even read as a flash drive and will only work as an aux source, in my experience.
