Charging Cable Plug

    you'll see the same thing on the L2's. i figured it was to fly out, screw it to the wall, and fly back.

    giora, I don't find this as an Important feature. How many overheated plugs have you ever had? The old PIP didn't have this feature.
    The bigger Question is WHY isn't there a tail piece with a Right-Angle plug?

    Ken, I know you did it in-intentionally as you did it with your PiP to solve a particular problem you had. Could be that for you it is not really that important as you only use known sockets at home and at work, however, since you shared it (and thank you for that) I found it important to mention the risk involved.
    BTW, this new safety feature is mentioned in the O/M:
    Temperature detection function A temperature detection function is equipped to the plug. While charging, if heat is generated due to looseness on the outlet side etc., this function suppresses heat by controlling the charging current
    (page 108)
    And messages involved in page 110.
    As for my PiP, I find myself plugging into unknown sockets from time to time (friends, restaurants, parking lots etc.), in these cases I am not leaving the car for the first 20 minutes or so, checking the connection for possible overheating. For me, the is a good safety feature added.

    Man i should have searched here before i did the exact same thing, to solve the problem of an in-use cover not closing..

    So I just did a right angle plug replacement and had immediate panic when i cut the cord and saw 5 wires. I plowed ahead and just ignored those two extra wires (pink and purple). Now when the charger is plugged it it flashes orange and red lights. BUT it still seems to charge, the car is plugged in right now and pulling 12A saying 5:50 to full charge with the first blue light flashing.

    The factory plug is over molded like a safe, i spent about 30 minutes hacking it apart to see where those two extra wires went. I got no continuity between them or any of the other wires. They went into what looked like two oscillators or capacitors, really hard to examine with all the over molding. But from this thread i guess might have been a thermistor? But didn't look like any i had seen and there were two, possibly in series, but they did appear to have metal tabs that ran down to close to the plug face, so this would make sense.

    OK, I'm again asking the Question - Has anyone found a Charging Cable with a Manufactured Right-Angle Plug? AND does it work with the Prime?

    I asked my Toyota Dealer to find one and he couldn't. He did find that Toyota makes the Prime charging cable. Why haven't they created a Right-Angle Plug?

    I am not finding any right angle at the car end cables, but at the 220 v plug end is this:

    My Duosaida L2 plug is also right angle. But since it's not good to hang it from the plug, it really doesn't make much difference.

    On our last Leaf EVSE it loosened over time and wasn't fully plugged in. As a result it fried the male plug of the EVSE as well as the outlet.

    Our newest Leaf 120v EVSE has a right angle plug. It's much appreciated, even if it's not hanging.

    The manual says to hang the block on a hook, I assume to prevent the problem being discussed in this thread. We're supposed to use the hole in the back of the block to accomplish this but I didn't see a hole in the back. So I put a hose handler next to the electric plug in the garage. When I'm charging, I unroll the cord and plug it into my car. I plug the other end into the electric plug, leaving the block on top of the hose handler so it doesn't pull down on the plug. Not ideal but it works.

    The Gen 2 block has a hanging hole at the end of the block where the incoming power cable connects. It's not in the back.
