    So I have been diagnosed with such a code with independent garage. Is that a major problem? I am very new to Prius.
    Any ideas how much that could cost me?

    Couple of questions;

    Did you take it to the garage because indicator lights appeared on your dash? (if yes and you remember, what were the indicators)

    Does the vehicle currently run or is it stuck at the garage?

    This could mean that the inverter needs to be replaced. In that case you should have a used unit installed.
    Or it could mean that the wiring harness between the inverter and the hybrid vehicle ECU has a problem. This is possible if the car was in a front-end accident or suffered damage from rodent infestation.
