Going by my experience, as long as you turn on the ECO mode for the climate control, it will stay that way until you purposefully turn it off.

Yup, always, so if you're going to comment about something is wrong with my car and your car is sometimes out in the cold not in a unheated garage or sometimes in a unheated garage but mostly sits outside don't bother. I only want to hear from people who have their Prime outside in 20 to 30 degree weather or colder. I drove my car to work today this morning 28 degrees climate was off front defroster off seat heaters off steering wheel heaters off. ICE kicked in at 35 MPH. I'm going to discontinue testing my car at speeds higher than 25 MPH for the first 1.5-2.0 miles because that's what it takes to keep ICE off.

Yep I tested all this. Left car sit outside exposed for 3 days.
If I recall correctly, it was low 20's sat outside overnight, got covered in ice and snow. Left unplugged but full charge overnight to test leaving car plugged in changed anything in testing.

My test on route to work, I left climate off. Used only heated seat. I was hard on my prime, I tried to get ice to fire, I had no luck. I floored the pedal to took it to 60mph even, ice never came on. This was about 1/2 mile from my house. I did not pre heat or start car. Just hit power and went on my way

On way home from work was upper 20's used climate on eco set at 74. Also drove hard. Ice never came on.

It was 18 the other day here and was on the freeway at 75mph and ice never came one.

So far in everything I have done and tried, the ice has never came on in my prime tests or regular usage, unless I changed to EV auto or ran out of charge or used defrost.

I know this isn't the case being I personal have driven over 800 miles and not use a drop of gas.

I've heard that there is an interval, but I don't know what it is our how it's tracked. I wonder if there is any notification like the Volt? Mine would fire the ice about every 3 months if I didn't use the ice. And it would pop up a display notification saying "engine maintenance mode"

It would be a challenge to test that out for 3 months or even longer.

yup, he's doing something wrong, because ICE kicked in for me today, one thing I did notice, I scheduled charge for a 7:00 am departure and it completed at 7:00 am even though I have not reset daylight saving time on the system clock. (should have completed at 8:00 am not 7:00 am) also when I left for work at 10:00 am the green charge light was lit in the charge port door. When I got into the car the car indicated to me that charge had not quite finished. (possibly the Traction Battery warmer?)

only problem to this theory is by April the weather will have warmed up to make the test unfeasible.

I drove the car past the EV miles allotted on my car yesterday, so engine maintenance was performed yesterday and was not due for another

Was there a message on the MID that said it was in engine maintenance mode?

So the engine maintenance mode on the Volt is for low temperatures, or for the lack of ICE activity, or is it for the gas sitting to long?

no, but the interval between when ICE comes on every 200 miles of all EV driving (124 miles on the 2012-2015 PIP) was not reached because I drove the car past the 22 miles of EV I had yesterday so the ICE was "exercised" yesterday.

That would make sense if not for the fact when I drive down streets at 25 mph for 1.5-2.0 miles ICE does not come on even after I speed up to 35 mph afterwards. For at least 200 miles (time of travel of several small EV trips adding up to 200 miles)

I was already to thrown in the towel and you guys were right when, for several trips that I made, ICE did not fire, but the weather was not as cold as it was this morning (not 14 degrees cold, more like 28 degrees cold)

Lack of ICE activity. The ICE started in my Volt last night 'cause I haven't used any gas for some time.
