What this has to do with regeneration of a full battery?

nothing, nothing at all, but ICE kicks in because it's cold out, and it's not any of your mumbo jumbo

i think we've argued the same points several times over.
as i recall, with the pip, there were a few people whose engines would come on for 'no reason', and we could never figure it out.
i have one route that always starts the engine in cold weather at a half mile out. any other direction i go, and it never comes on.

yes. but with the pip, as with prime, some folks were outside, and some were in. the cold is definitely part of your problem, but we haven't figured out the battery conditioner yet, either.
also, i think if cold were the only factor, it would fire up like a lift back. after all, when you start driving, it's only getting warmer, and a million other factors come into play.
prime is supposed to limit engine firing much more than pip, but not completely like a volt.

I think comparing the PIP to the Prime is like comparing tangerines to oranges. They not exactly the same. The Prime is designed to stay in EV only for more situations and circumstances.

no question, pip is much different. but the knowledge base helps give us clues. still, the prime is so complicated, and has so many features and screens, idk if we'll ever figure it out.
we'd need a cold weather bob wilson, and there is no other.

I think Toyota may enjoy us talking about unengineering (starting with the end result and working backwards to get to the engineering of the result) their products when they pretty much know all about it without telling us. Decades ago, they did that with American products.

To borrow a quote, " what difference at this point does it make?". Whether you like it or not, the ICE is going to start and you're not going to stop it. ;)

not true, I can drive down the side streets at 25 MPH for about 1.5-2.0 miles and ICE will not come on until I reach the 124 mile interval.:D

Because a report above says it hasn't started in 800 miles, leading to the possible conclusion that the report of this behavior (starting every 200 miles) isn't true.

could you please provide that link to that quote? Am I to assume that ICE was off for that total 800 miles?

That's bisco and he drives a 2012 PIP which means ICE has, in fact, kicked in after 124 miles:D

I haven't gone beyond 800 miles because I purposely went on a long distance trip to verify another thread about getting more EV range going down a mountain. Started over after that and have driven 400 miles so far this time without using a drop of gas and going......
