44 thousand miles. We bought it at a local yard. They know us there! We've bought a lot of stuff from them

Yes I think preventative maintenance is key. I just cleaned the EGR pipe in my V and the "new" engine

    Good to hear(y).

Soon you'll be doing the intake manifold and egr valve and cooler:)!

To remove the intake manifold you need to remove the throttle body. Just wondering: when removing throttle body is it mandatory to disconnect coolant lines? Or can you just leave them connected and pull the throttle body off and out of the way enough? Also, how necessary is it to replace gaskets?

I disconnected the coolant lines as part of the egr cooler removal. Since the coolant was out, it made sense to do it then and easier to root around the engine bay;).

If you pool services together , you can get more done, but requires a larger time commitment.

If you were going to do the throttle body outside of a coolant drain, hose clamps and corks should be employed to avoid coolant all over the engine bay. You could also slide it out of the way, but may prove too difficult to remove the intake manifold and put it back in.

But if someone wants to try it, that feedback could help(y).

Thanks for that. It looks like no coolant hoses disconnected: they unbolt the throttle body and just move it off to the side.

@Raytheeagle, do you think we should make a better video of the combination EGR remove/oil catch can install/intake manifold clean when we attack my car next month?
