Front and rear pad pins are similar, both have a rubber boot where the pin goes in.

Did you get to check that pin?

A bit of silicone grease may help with stuck calipers if the old grease is gone.

Forgot to read the next 3 pages :-P

Also, Australian 2nd gen Prius has rear disk brakes. "Handbrake" is a drum. So it has both :-P

It's confusing: OP's car is second gen, but the vehicle with brake problem is third gen, has rear disk brakes.

OP owns at least two Prius: 2005 and 2011.

Patrick, just noticing: you're going to run out of fingers, to count your vehicles.

    :D

The 2007 belongs to my daughter but I leave it in my signature since I continue to accept responsibility for maintenance beyond oil changes which she has done at her local Toyota dealer...

Not sure what dampers are? (n) Anti-squeal springs? That is different, not present on front. Here's some exploded views:

Interesting! ......that diagram doesn't show the "Dampers" (my terminology)......they are in fact a rubber sleeve/bushing/damper that is located on an undercut on the far/end of the pin.......like I mentioned "Interesting".......wonder, if they have been eliminated??

Yeah full brake section (PDF format) is attached to post 41, have a look. Pins and boots are similar, front and rear. Rear has addtl anti-rattle springs, and of course the tricky calliper piston due to parking brake incorporation.

Ya, the diagram calls out a "Rear Disk Brake Bushing Dust Boot" & then points to the dust boot.......the "Damper/Bushing" is a separate piece that "Stays" with the pin........I don't see it

The smaller pieces are the bleed bolt caps? (n)

Nope......they're the rubber/damper/bushings that install on the end of the caliper pins, that I have been discussing (ref.post #33)

    Correct. I own 2 Priis (I think that's the Prius plural I've heard) - '05 and '11

So you took those little dampers off, not the pins though

I meant the rubber boots. You took the dampers off, not the boots?

I'm very sceptical. Have had the pins out front and rear, they all have square-off ends, no sign of dampers. Toyota Online parts doesn't mention them, ditto for the exploded view in Repair Manual. I suspect those are bleed bolt caps.

Not wanting to argue, BUT......I too, have had my pins out MANY times & can tell you, my rear pins do in fact have rubber dampers/bushings/ whatever you want to call them, which I removed......that is one of the things we are trying to determine; do all Gen. 3 have them?? ......I do agree with you on the "Red" above......negative on the "Bleed/Bolt/Caps"
