I know that F8L did a lot of research on this subject a while back, and that the information is valuable. Some say it is dated though. I am looking for opinions and recommendations based on selection of specific brands of LRR type tires that will fit 17" Rims. The tires need to be sized at P215/45R17 with a 87V speed/load rating. The tires that came on the car when it was new were the Michelin Primacy MXM4 I have researched the Michelin's and also the Bridgestone Ecopia 422 Plus. I also have reviewed the Conti Pro Contact Plus. Anyone have any particulars that they might suggest. I am mainly interested in a fairly quiet and traction oriented tire. I don't need it to be a snow type tire since I usually don't drive where the snow flies. I have replaced the tires, but do have the option to get something different if I really want to. With that said, I am looking for feedback to aid in my research and I do value "everyone's" opinion here.
225/45/17 is much cheaper size, it also makes the speedometer show more precisely (with 215/45/17 it shows ~10% too much, with 225 the difference is ~7%). I believe you have checked the recommended tires topics? There are many options and opinions.
I just bought the Michelin premier P215 /45r 17. They put 33 in front and 32 in back tires. My mileage has dropped about 7 from original tires. Any ideas if higher tire pressure will help with mileage? Michelin tires do ride smoother and are quieter than original.
See this thread: 215/45/17 my Michelin premier review | PriusChat @jimmyjam initially bought Premier A/S, then switched to Primacy MXM4, taking advantage of 30 day satisfaction guarantee. Drop of mpg was one of his complaints, and he says it ticked back up with return to Primacy.
