Need constant power fuse on driver side

    I installed a dash cam in my car but failed to find a 12V constant fuse to tap into in the driver side fuse panel. Can someone help point me in the right direction?

    maybe you'll have to sneak a wire through the bulkhead.

    I usually just hook stuff up to the cigarette lighter circuit.

    By "constant", you mean you want the cam powered at all times, even when the car is off?

    What does it draw?

    The wiring diagram should show you several suitable circuits available under the instrument panel.

    Yes, constant at all times. I have the hardwire kit that will stop drawing power below a certain voltage.

    Update:

    I did some more searching and I found out that all the fuses in the middle column have constant power even when car is off, so I tapped into one of those fuses. Now my dash cam will record even when the car is off (motion detection)

    be careful with that constant current draw, your AUV 12 v battery will suffer the consequences.

    That's a fact.

    My bird's eye camera system would kill my 12v if I didn't drive the car for several days.

    As others have mentioned......our accessory 12v battery is 1/3 the size of a traditional 12v battery. Unless the cam has its own battery supply, I would be very cautious & would expect ur battery to last longer than 2 years.

    If the camera would activate only for limited time, due to motion or sound, that'd at least be better.

    The power outlet (cigarette lighter) isn't powered unless in Accessory or Ready. It's not powered in standby.

    I ordered this power cord from amazon and taped into the power for the mirror. It comes on when I start the car and turns off when I stop. You can get constant power up there too if you want it.

    It may appear that way. But if one has over 100Ah capacity and a couple 100W solar panels, it don't matter :)
