Plugging in at a Charepoint makes it a little more worthwhile for you Prime guys since you have a 3.3kw charger. My 2.2kw charger on my PiP doesn't really make using Chargepoint very beneficial unless all conditions are right.

My Leaf's 6.6kw charger makes it a different story.

My L2 charger at home takes 1 hr 50 minutes to fully charge my PA. It's always been that way. Can't tell you what it takes on ChargePoint charger; never been able to get a full charge on one. It's been almost exactly 4 months since I bought my Prime Advanced. Love it!!

Thanks, cell phone signal is pretty bad this morning due to the weather. Don't know what cellphone company's network ChargePoint is using.

Guess I'll have to set my timer or leave a few EV miles left in the Prime before I charge there. That's good to know ones there.

Westfield charging station has sign posted First 2 hours Free, which means 1st two hours parking is free. People complained that they charged less than 2 hours they still had to pay.

Do you install your L2 station inside the garage? I am looking to install one outside. I need to find out capacity of my current panel. Which I have no clue. If I remembered correctly Solar system guy told us we have capacity for EV, however I didn't pay attention to what he told us then. Haha

    Hi Arc,
Yeah I had a certified electrician install my Leviton L2 charger inside my garage. 240V service already exists in the garage with a panel to which he ran about 40 ft of cable in tubing, to a 240V outlet that he installed. The charger is plugged into that outlet. Charger was right at $500 and he charged me $600 (complete) for the installation. The city of Anaheim gave me a check for $1000, after I provided their required documentation and photos, for installing the "private L2" charger!
    Pretty good deal!

On top of it all the chargepoint 100 day credit needs to be activated within 30 days of delivery. I there are not many chargers near me or near places I would spend an hour or two. I'll probably activate mine befor ed the 30 days buy don't think I'll ever use it.

That's pretty good deal. I missed the residential Charging station credit. I hope they will be another one coming soon.

The electrician will be stopping by tomorrow to do an estimate for running the 2 lines we need.

Since my ChargePoint card 100 day credit has since expired (end of February), I will only charge now if it's free. Most ChargePoint stations or other public stations have a fee of $1.00/hour, which is quite expensive considering it's .13/kwh at home. But if it is free, I'll charge but I won't wait the entire time it takes to charge completely. South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa has around 16 free ChargePoint plugs in the North Parking Garage and 6 in the West Parking Garage. 2 hour time limit. If you use any of the plugs in the North Parking Garage, you need to give your key to the Valet. Even if I need to go into the mall for a quick errand, which is typically the case, I'll just charge for the time I'm there if there's a spot open.

My grocery store also has two free charge stations (Volta), so I'll charge up while I'm grocery shopping (usually not more than 10-15 mins).

Other than that, I don't know of any other free stations around me. Only other place I've been to with free charge stations is the Palazzo in Vegas. I'm pretty sure most of the hotels there offer free charging.

I got really lucky. My work has 10 L2 chargepoint spigots at $0.07/kWh, which is ridiculously cheap compared to my rate at home. Often all are full but the phone app will notify you when one becomes available. My round trip commute is about 20 miles so I plan to do all of my charging at work during the week, even after Toyota's 100days/$100 runs out. It takes 2 hr 20 min to charge fully (just shy of 6.5 kWh). The car takes 3.1 kW until final 15 min when it drops to 0.8kW. My desk is a 10 min walk from the stations.
Work also offers many L1 chargers at $15/mo, which isn't worth my while.
I've seen one chargepoint station in the wild - a parking garage in San Jose, CA. They wanted $1.25 to connect and 20-25 cents per kWh.
Chargepoint shows a few more within a mile or two of my house - at a park and at the library. Both are $1.50/hour or ~$6/gal, not worth it after the 100 days are up.
I activated my card on the website but didn't realize I needed to enter my VIN as a promotional code until today. Oops. I'm out $2.

There's an EVgo station at the grocery store 1/2 mile from my house. They want $1/hr L2, cheaper than gas, but more than electricity at home.

I knew about the $15/mo plan but not the $0.07/kW before I bought the car. I got really lucky.

Their app is really nice though. In fact, if you have the app you don't even need a card. It tells you all the cost details there.

I'm lucky that there is a Chargepoint near my work, after ~ 2 months I'm down to $40, expires early July.
There are almost no public chargers where I live (Temecula, except a Tesla supercharger at the mall) and on my recent trip to Monterey, well, couldn't find anything there either, free or not. Feels like there is still room for improvement in the "golden" state ...

I noticed that the higher up the social scale here in Southern California that the city is, the better distributed are EV chargers. Newport Beach has a decent array in their fancy schmantsy malls, but we peasant lowlifes who live in the slums of Anaheim, get diddly-squat!! Maybe if you shop at Walgreens, they decently try to prop you up, but who shops at Walgreens??
