What would cause the pressure relief valve on my AC compressor to be ejecting refrigerant? I have about 12 oz of refrigerant in the system (below capacity) and it blew. So I can't keep enough refrigerant in the system to keep cool. Blows out.

    Defective valve?? Restriction somewhere ??

I have gauges and will check pressure as soon as I can, but wanted to see if anyone had similar issue, or recommendations.

I hope your gauges are virgin and not used on a normal auto ac set. It would be contaminated with pag oil that is not compatible with the prius ac unit. Can't help you with the your primary issue, sorry.

Did you ever figure out what was causing this? I'm having the same issue on my wife's compressor.

What exactly is "the same issue" that you are having? What work have you done or have had done to the car? What are the A/C system operating pressures?
