Would you be willing to humor me and tell me exactly what to press to get that graph with EV range on my display? I went to "i" and tried every option but don't find it. Hence, my google search for "Prius Prime for Dummies". :(

Edit: to be clear, it's the graph in post 22 that I'm looking for.

Did you enable the split screen?

It's not on the left screen (that's the "i" one) it's on the right screen It's the one with the car graphic with the power being shown, then down arrow on the steering wheel. That one shows the EV, if you have any, if you are out then it will disappear. That's the one that will also give you your kwh per mile if you keep arrowing down. It's got a bunch of different views.

Yes, I am in split screen, and have been doing just as is being suggested. At least, trying to!

But maybe a light just went on - I can't charge at home, so have an empty battery most of the time. So it doesn't show if you're out of EV? That may be my problem. Out of EV, out of luck. :(

It didn't know exactly what 'EV range' meant - if it was the range of your last charge vs the range you have given your current charge.

I will try this all again next time I have the opportunity to charge. Thanks for your patient tutelage. :)

When you charge it will show estimated miles left in battery, if you have no charge then it will show nothing. :)

I have gone through two charges so far. 25 miles on the first and it had 20% left. The second charge went 33 miles before switching out of EV mode. Driving is stop and go with hills. Max speed 50 mph and average around 35 mph.

I have a Prime ordered. In reading through these posts, it seems everyone is running without using AC or heat. I don't do that. I keep it comfortable. Also, I will very rarely be using heat, as I am in Houston, but BOY will it be using the AC . Anyone living in a hot climate and tht actually uses their AC that can give me an idea of what kind of mpg I will get?
I presently have a 2016 Prius that gets about 60 mpg (keeping the temperature at 75 degrees.)

Apologies for not reading every post in every thread that might cover this, but was wondering:

What the EV range is for cruising at 75mph on the freeway?

    I saw a post where someone reported 17 miles @ 80mph, but has anyone tried @ 75mph? (A constant 75mph, not a mix).
So far I haven't gone faster than 65-67 when using EV (then go a bit faster once I'm out of EV) but if anyone's noticed what the EV range would be for 75mph (normal weather, driving conditions, constant 75mph speed) please post it. Thanks!

I can't answer your direct question (yet), but you might be interested to know I ordered mine June 30 and it was just unloaded at the Houston Vehicle Processing Center yesterday. This is much quicker than what the Houston distribution analyst told the dealer in July, They originally said Oct/Nov delivery so they "may" have stepped up production.

I can't tell the reliable mpg (since I charge my Prime regularly) but my real Houston E/V range experience might give you an idea.
A/C set to 72-74 degF (depending on humidity) at all times :
    FWY (e.g. IH-69 @ 60-65MPH) EV range 26-28 miles
    HWY (e.g. HWY-90 @ 55-60 MPH) EV range 28-29 miles
    PKWY (e.g. FM1094, Memorial, @ 40-55MPH) EV range 28-30 miles
non HWY (e.g. Allen Pkwy, local Rd @ 35-50MPH ) EV range 29-31 miles
So far my best achieved real world EV range in Houston was 32.5 EV miles regardless of range displayed either by by E-tune (36-37 miles) or car itself (33-34 miles) after each full charge consistently for the last few months.
Regarding mpg in HV mode only I haven't got a chance to check it but suspect it would be comparable with Gen 4.

Prime Advanced 5000 mile update: I purchased my Prime Feb. 18. eMPG is 102+ and climbing. I live in a small town and drive 12 miles to the next city once or twice a week for shopping. Other days I drive a lot fewer miles or not at all. I start each day with 29+ miles EV range so I estimate 95% of local miles driven are in EV mode. Sometimes I make a 120 mile trip to "the Big City" and that's about the only time I use gas. Electricity rates are very low ...$0.0735 cents/kilowatt. My electric bill is running about $10/month higher than before I bought the car. This car fits my driving needs perfectly. Besides that EV mode is a great driving experience.

If you mainly do short trips, don't carry more gas then you need to get to a gas station. With at least 50 mpgs a gallon or two is more then enough. I've just seen my miles/kWh go from about 5 to 6.2 just by going from about 7/8th of a tank to about 1/8th

This might be helpful for anyone that needs to squeeze out a bit more range just to finish their trip in EV mode.

A gallon of gas is 6.3 lbs. 10 gallons is 63lbs. That's a pretty big, and easy, weight savings. For me, it let's me do my hilly 34 mile commute in full EV mode.

Obviously, this means don't carry extra stuff in your car, especially if it's heavy. Anyone know of any other lightweight mods?

  14. Remove the 784 page manual, Entune/Nav, and warranty documentation from the glove compartment

Seriously though I've been thinking about for my first fill-up... not doing a full tank of gas for that very reason.

Have been driving now around 7000 miles during last 5 months - my experience is that normally the real range is between 25 - 28 miles, sometimes using a lot of regen I can do 30, going above that is relatively hard..I do not normally use EV when going above 65 for longer distance since it is draining the battery quite fast..interesting to see what happens when weather gets cold here in Finland❄️❄️

My very first drive on EV only was 31.3 miles. The next 4 times were b/w 29-35 miles (different driving modes, routes, probably different temperatures too). But overall I'm in NJ, temperature has been 75-90F then and my AC was always sets to ~74F (in auto/eco AC mode) and quite often I drive in power mode (seemed to get similar range as eco mode). I also accelerate/brake fast in traffic when needed rather than always slow accelerate/brake (didn't want to disrupt the flow of traffic).

BTW 10 days ago I depleted the EV battery and purely use HV to test the real HV mpg. Haven't needed to fillup yet, but I suspect it's about 60-62 mpg despite that the trip meter said it's 67 mpg.

Update: After I used up almost a full tank of gas, just did the fillup. Trip meter said 65.7 mpg and calculated was 61.94 mpg. So almost 4 mpg lower than trip meter. But I'm very happy with 62 mpg. Had I drove less hwy, it'd been probably at least 5 mpg better.

Today I wound up having to drive the freeway at 3:45am, so figured it'd be a good day to see the EV range of the Prime on the freeway if using the cruise control to go a steady 64mph. Normally I don't use the cruise control because typically I'm driving in heavy traffic.

Driving on the 405 Fwy (in California, we always say "the" before a freeway's name, we "love" 'em that much), it's pretty level (some minor ups & downs, but for the most part generally flat).

    Fully charged EV battery.

    From home:
    1 mile to freeway entrance
Acceleration getting onto the freeway (accel to 64mph)
Then set cruise control to 64mph, where nothing changed until the EV range ran out.

Total miles driven from home, most at 64mph on the freeway using cruise control until EV range ran out: 26.1 miles.

I purposely used the cruise control to keep it at a constant speed for the test.

I believe 33.6, but that number doesn't matter for this test, as it's simply an indicator of past performance and driving habits (and thus, what you might expect to see -- though this test was completely different driving speeds/habits than usual). Most of the time I use the EV more with a mix of driving (city, or freeway at varying speeds) but figured this was a good chance to test the EV range for going a constant 64mph speed.

This was almost pure freeway (other than the 1 mile to get on the freeway, and the acceleration to the steady 64mph, at which point I put on the cruise control). Early in the morning, but still relatively mild SoCal temperatures, just myself in the car, no heat/air-con, normal lights on (3:45am), radio on. It was a generally flat (just minor occasional ups and downs) stretch of the 405. Charge had just been completed less than an hour before I left. I reset "Trip A" as I started out from home, and "Trip A" showed 26.1 at the point where the EV range went down to 0.0 and the ICE came on.
