    Hello,

No matter how many times I restart my car the hybrid System indicator doesn’t turn on. Any idea how to get this back on?

Piece of paper in there? One of them is actually projecting from below.

Press DISP on the steering wheel. (There is an option to turn that screen off)

Thank you guys for the suggestions. I drove the car around for a half hour and restarted it and it came back on but now it's gone again and after driving for a half hour it's not coming back.

What? I know nothing about cars. What is MFD?

I checked this and kept sliding it back and forth nothing comes on.

A piece of paper where? Where specifically am I checking.

Thank you I will try this.

If your display came back on it's for sure not this, but just fyi: one side of the display (either left or right, I forget) is a projected image, the source of projection being an opening in the bottom of the "cave" the displays are in. You can demonstrate by throwing something like a business card in there, it'll block the display.

MFD = Multi-Function Display (usually refers to the 7" LCD screen if your car is equipped with navigation)
MID = Multi-Information Display - refers to the screen you're trying to fix

There's some confusion as to which of your screen is off. The paper suggestion is more for the speedo. Your speedo, fuel gauge and instant fuel economy readout is actually a reflected image. The screen is buried within the dashboard and reflected with two mirrors up to your line-of-sight. Hence, Mendel thought that if your speedo is dark or missing, a piece of paper might've gotten in and blocked the image.

The MID where your Hybrid System Indicator is displayed is an actual screen (Vacuum Fluorescent Display or VFD) so a piece of paper can't block it.

Thank you for the clarification, you guys. I appreciate how responsive all of you are. I started my car again to go to lunch and now the MID is back on. My car has never given me any trouble and I've had it for a few years and it's taken me to 200,000 miles.

Any theories or ideas as to why this screen randomly decides to shut off when I boot the car up the past few days then turns back on after driving for 20 minutes? I've tried Googling this and searching the forums but no one else seems to have this issue.

Is this something I can fix myself? Or do I bring it to a mechanic?

What does low 12v mean? I know absolutely nothing about cars.

the battery that boots up the computers can make them do funny things if it's not up to snuff. but mendel is probably correct with the connection.

    Hello,

I wanted to update you guys just in case this helps someone else. My car began to give difficulty starting in addition to that screen not popping up. I had the 12v auxiliary battery replaced and now my car is functioning great. Lights are nice and bright, startup is perfect, and my screens are all on. I've also noticed my MPG are better than ever. Thanks for the help everyone!

Just curious, how many years/miles did your old 12v battery last?

I was on my original battery and I'm at about 195,000 miles. Not sure if that's good or bad...I drive a lot.

I’m at 166 k miles on our 2010 using the original 12v (now 8.5 years old):)!

It just keeps working so why not use it(y).
