    Hello Pruis Owners,
I have a 2006 CVT-E model pruis with over 200,000 glorious miles. It has seen some great sites. Need new tires once again, blew the radial belts out this time. The drag or friction that Hybrids cause to tires is the cause, I am told of so many replacement tires over its life.
Patience please, I know some but need to ask others for information. So no rude woman comments.
My question is, can I put on 195/65/15 tires to have it handle better. Do I have to change the wheel to fit the new tire size.
    Thank you.
    Donna

Mine (European gen 2) has 195/55R16 tyres.
    That means
the tyre is 195 mm wide,
the tyre is 55% of the width high (radial),
the tyre is for 16 inch rims.

If your original wheels are the same, actually you have 16" rims and you need 16" tyres.

Changing the 55% will result in another outer diameter which means another top speed and incorrect miles and mph values.
This could be prohibited. (In Germany it is.)

Maybe you are allowed to change the width. Thinner would be cheaper, but wider ones have more traction/less slip. Maybe no real profit.

Not choosing a too high speed index and load index may reduce the costs a bit.

I think the Prius "gear box" is meant. AKA Power split device aka e-CVT. (electric continuous variable transmission)

I think they are all the same, too.
But even then, she is right: Her Prius has the so called eCVT.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

195-65-15 is the stock wheel size. Do you have aftermarket wheels?

Go to tirerack.com and search the size and look at reviews. There are a few questions you need to answer.

    Are you after mileage
Are you after quiet and comfort damn the mileage
Will the car see snow so must be all season.

Tirerack will drop ship to just about any tire store on the planet. if you have a tire store you like check with tirerack if you find a tire you like and see if its on there preferred dealer list.

And hybrids does not cause drag or friction to a tire. You must have been told that horse hockey by a tire salesman.

Gen2 came with 185/65/15. Gen3 had 195/65/15. Either would fit. I have both on my gen2 cars

185/65/R15 is correct and was the Gen 2 stock size in the US, but if you're going to 195 then 195/60/R15 is what you're after. That was stock in UK/NZ/Aus for the 15" wheels and may be other places too.
