I have a 2012 Prius V. A few months ago my teens borrowed it and later I noticed that the navigation system was no longer working (note that I use the system as is, without connecting it to my phone/entune).

It will speak to tell me that it is "Calculating Route", while accepting an address from a voice command, and if I tap on the volume button it will tell me the next instruction, but otherwise it will not give any verbal route instructions. I can drive right up to my turn and it won't speak, I can drive past my turn and it will speak, just to tell me that it's calculating my route again. Not a single "turn right" etc.

I've gone thru all the menus within the navigation app, the setup button (yes I found two different volumes for voice and navigation with both on), basically anything I can press I have pressed and searched until no more menus are offered. I've also gone through the menu of verbal commands to see if there was anything there of help. I read that some people would tell it "Pause Navigation" but that command isn't recognized by my car (and I'm guessing it basically cancels navigation rather than continuing to navigate while partially muted).

Has anyone experienced this, intentionally or from one of your kids changing something that they don't recall? I really need to get my navigation back and my first appointment with the dealership led nowhere... he told me my volume was too low and it was fixed, bye bye... Then I reminded him that I knew how to adjust the volume, that the volume was fine, etc... He took my car for a drive but turned back BEFORE actually getting to the first instructed turn on the route he selected... told me it was working perfectly. I asked for details, had he been given any driving instructions? without actually touching the volume button just before hearing them? He had never even driven far enough to receive a single instruction had it been working. He told me I'd have to make an appointment (I had an appointment for this afternoon), said it was too late now and just kept brushing me off.

I made ANOTHER appointment for Monday but I'd rather just not ever have to look at him again, so I'd like to avoid having to go back.

    Thanks!

While I do not use the Entune feature, it is an option on mine... mine is the version in the manual MY12%20Entune%20QRGR1.pdf

The 2012 Prius v had two different navigation systems, one available in the v3 and another in the v5. Do you know which model you have?

This is from my manual (v3). It suggests this particular onscreen volume is down. It's only accessible after setting a route but will remain off, full on, or somewhere in between once set accordingly.

I am not positive, I found the manual for it, but it doesn't say which version it is and I can't link directly to it as a new member here. I'll plug around in the car tomorrow to see if it tells me more..

I have turned the volume to the maximum level and it makes no difference (it just means that "The route is being calculated" message is even more jarring :( I've gone in through other settings from the "setup" button and it appears to have two volume settings that interact with the navigation system and I've raised and lowered both with no change.

Somehow I think my kids touched the screen where there was a hidden button and managed to shut off the "navigation announcements" but we can't figure out how they did it or how to undo it. I've tried tapping pretty much every inch of the map, scrolled through and clicked on everything that remotely looks like it could contain a setting, a volume control, or a navigation option... scoured the small and large manuals, and I find nothing.

If you have the screen like the one above, it's probably a v3. The v5 navigation looks different. Adjust the screen volume as shown using the + and - soft buttons up and down and ensure you see the bar changing. It is absolutely possible to turn off the automatic route updates right here and then hear just the last announcement when you touch it.

Oh we've had it at maximum and everything in between, nothing changes. In the setup menu there are other volume menus and I've turned them up and down as well, to no avail :( I saw a comment somewhere about pressing and holding the "mode" button on the steering wheel to silence it, going to try that today to see if it comes back as that's the only thing I've read of that exists in my car and I haven't tried.

I think it requires a special vocal command or two finger button/screen press to get to it (like the special button combos or secret menus in video games) :( Need an inside track, I fear!

We took the other car this morning as we needed a working navigation, but I'll take my car for lunch in a little bit and try attacking it again!

Maxed everything out for volume, pressed and held "mode" on the steering wheel a short time, a long time, a forever time... nothing changed. *sigh* Tried every way I could imagine to say "resume guidance" and nothing was recognized as a voice command.

I would recommend a dealer diagnosis. It may need to be reset or even updated.

PLEASE REALIZE YOU COULD MAKE IT WORSE THAN IT'S NOW IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG.

    1. There is a “clear personal data” option in settings.

    2. There are two diagnostic screens, one of which includes an “init” and another does a “memory clear”. Proceed with caution. Prius v Display Audio Service Menu w Battery Check | PriusChat

    Or get an update

    3. My Entune version is 3.2 and I updated it with a usb.

    Instructions :
    1) USB flash drive 2GB or larger
    2) download iso file below
    3) copy iso file and on to usb
    4) turn vehicle on keep the egine running
    5) insert USB on vehicle USB port
    6) wait till head unit asks you to perform update
    7) follow display instructions

I sent my husband in to the dealership today (with a destination saved that generates 3 turns, the nearest such route to the dealership) since I'm not feeling well. He's been there a little over 4 hours, they tried everything they could think of, an update, a reset, about to call it quits for the day and see if corporate has other ideas or do a replacement system. :(

Apparently it wouldn't accept the updates properly. So more is wrong than we thought. A new system is on order and it's covered under the extended warranty that we had!
