I bought one for my 2008 Prius and never installed it. It looks like a good idea but I was worried about it getting sheared off and then loosing oil. We have a lot of ice clunkers on the road here in the winter, sometimes you can't go around them.

Does it slow the drain? I've never had a problem with drain bolt, fwiw.

With the cover that you have to remove in order to get to the drain plug, it provides enough protection for me plus the drain is on the back side of the oil pan so the pan would take any hit first before it would hit the drain valve. Fumoto makes a short, medium and long drain valve so the model that I listed is the short one as it is about an inch long.

As long as the oil is hot, it will flow out about the same rate as the plug. I did file a v-notch on the inside bottom of the drain valve to help get every last drop that I could but really is not needed.

I'm sorry I was referring to my 2008 Gen 2 where the drain plug was completely exposed unlike the Gen 4.

It would be ideal for a Gen 4.

I almost used a Fumoto in our Hyundai vehicles but 'thought better of it' ( i.e. - overthought it ). I think some of us are somewhat paranoid and think something might happen to it..even though nothing ever will.
