Since the PP mostly run on Electric, has anyone thought about driving in HV mode for few hundred miles just to break-in the engine?

Absolutely. There are several discussion threads about this over the last 11 months or so.

Assuming that the engineering theory is the same as the PIP.......it should force you to burn the gas in the tank over time.....which should be more than sufficient.

Modern car engines haven't needed a "real" break-in for a LONG time now.

As I recall there was some mention of a break-in procedure in the Prime manual. Can’t recall the details right now. Sorry.

Given how the Prius engine works, I suspect constant speed is not an issue...

Some Prime users have gone several miles in EV only (way over the 124 miles that the PIP recycles at) without ever having ICE kick in.

Does it matter if you do the "break-in" right away or over several years? I would think probably not. I would say "it's an appliance, just drive it".

There are two things that need "break in": the engine and the brakes. Post number 5 lists shows the Owner's Manual break in period for both, but doesn't spell out which is which, though it's fairly obvious. Considering a plug-in prius where the engine is off a lot, I would just extend the engine break in period accordingly.

    So ????
I wasn't trying to say that it would be identical.......because it is a different vehicle.

What I WAS trying to say is: It is unlikely that the car is engineered to allow you to drive it on EV only FOREVER. Eventually the gas engine will run, whether you want it to or not.

actually there probably is no maintenance interval requiring ICE to kick in due to the fact Toyota has this mandatory fuel usage after one year to avoid stale gas from damaging the engine. So there's that. :D

I was thinking...EV or not, there still an I4 engine in the bay so it has to be broken in

Well Im going to drive in HV mode for few hundred miles just so I can sleep better at night :)

I think the bigger problem was breaking the driver in.

Seems like those are good driving habits anytime not just during the first 600 miles.
