    Good Morning!

You really should have titled this thread " A Diamond In The Rough " ;)

I have seen this before. I never got to a solution on that car. Are the squares around the P R D N B? The dash on a 2005 is laid out differently than your newer Prius.

The service record said there was no inverter coolant. Get under the car and look for leaks. That's the first place to check.

Classic dead inverter pump inverter over heated and crow barred and the owner drove it on the hv battery
    Till it died.
So most likely no matter what you replace on the chassis the car cannot start with a dead or very low hv battery.
Hv battery spins mg1 and that spins up the ICE. NO hv battery no nothing except 12 volt system and lots and lots of dtc’s.

You need a hv battery charger like a prolong. Open up the hv battery and measure at the relay battery side the battery output.

HV battery tests just fine 225 volts. If this is a $55 fix for a inverted pump at the salvage yard I’ll be very very happy. Dear Lord, I’m only hoping to find an inexpensive netbook to run this Techstream on.

Don't bother getting a second-hand pump. It is a wear item, so just get a new OEM one – it'll only cost $40-50 more for 100,000 mi peace-of-mind.

So I’m an effort to help me change out the HV pump on this car my husband sheered off the bolt that sticks up. Any advice?

There's another bolt on the side of the bracket that the sheered off bolt is located. Remove that bracket to take out the HV pump.

You probably don't have to replace that bolt....there should be enough bolts there to hold it tight.

Haha yeah but it was the bolt that sticks up and only the nut is supposed to come off it holds up another bracket and now I’m a bit worried. Does this need to be fixed?

I’m hoping to get this car running tonight for the first time since I purchased it. I’ll update the thread later tonight. Prayers appreciated.

Update: the silver Prius that hasn’t ever run since I bougght it weeks ago just started!!!! It needed
    a new HV pump
    A 15 AMP AM2 fuse
    A new 12 volt
A recharge of the HV battery
    Oil change
More coolant added to the radiator

I’d like to thank everyone who helped me on this thread: I can’t wait to see what- if any codes it pulls when I plug in Techstream. Need to air up the tires add in the crash brackets on the HV battery and take her out for gas and a road test drive. I can’t wait!

Only codes the car runs are
    C1241
    C1242
    C1300

I’ll be trying the 12v of my first Prius to see if that solves the codes.

I also have no speedometer showing up. I plan on using Techstream to reset the codes after the battery reinstall, hopefully that will clear it all up. They just brakes as they are squeaky after sitting for 3 months. Also the floor carpet is SOAKED on the drivers front seat. I do mean SOAKED. I wet vacuumed up what I could. I know this is not a flooded car. I have no idea where the wetness comes from. It’s mainly on the drivers side. Should I put rice down?

All of the codes with freeze frames seem to have very low 12V system voltage. So there’s a good change that replacing the 12V battery would fix them.

The water is in the drives footwell and nowhere else? Not in the rear of same side? Not in the spare wheel area? Not in the passenger side? Seems to be weird location for water leak. Clean it and let’s hope the water doesn’t come back.

@valde3 I replaced the 12V and it cleared those codes. From the looks of it the back window cracked. No no signs of water anywhere else. Not an insurance flooded car. Running a few other codes after 400 miles of test driving. Pulling the am2 fuse solved them and car restarted and drove again. The main codes are P0420 and P0A09. I’m looking up the procedures now to test and / or replace these parts.

DTC P0420: catalytic converter efficiency is low. You will need to replace the catalytic converter.
DTC P0A09: DC/DC converter in the inverter has failed. Use a voltmeter to measure voltage across the 12V battery when the Prius is READY. What voltage do you measure? It should be ~13.8V if the DC/DC converter is working.
