The front driver's side door on my wife's 2014 V doesn't respond to the key fob. All the other doors lock/unlock, but not the driver's door. Here's a video of the sound that occurs when you lock the car (might need to turn up volume) - any diagnoses?:

Actuator 'sounds' to be working, but linkage to lock may have come loose.

Remove door card and see what you see, re-attach the linkage if necessary, report back.

Thanks. By "door card," you meant the interior door panel?

Yes. Lift it away from the door frame using hand holds at bottom, then lift vertically. Watch out for electrical connections to courtesy light at bottom of door.

Just took panel off. All wiring and physical cable connections look to be OK. Or, at least, I didn't see anything loose or flopping around. What next?

Try the door actuator with the panel off, see what happens. Any movement? Where is the sound coming from?

Just to close this out: It was the door actuator. Bought aftermarket replacement from rockauto.com (part #SK931401, $45.79), replaced the original, and all works well now. BTW, great video on replacing an actuator on a 2014 V made this a half-hour job for me:

I have a 2014 with 45k miles and this exact door is starting to give me problems.

Is there a part that by oiling it might prolong or ease the door mechanism?

you have to remove the interior panel, and study what is happening

if it's the actuator, you have to repair (cheap, labor intensive) or replace (expensive, easy)

I completed changing mine this weekend. Ordered the part from Amazon. From 1 to 5 difficulty scale, this was a 2.5. Took me about 1 hour to get it done. Here is a picture of the door panel. Make sure all plastic rivers are off before you slide it up as instructed in the video.

I also included other close up photos of parts where you need to be careful. Inserting the rod in the final picture takes some patience. BC36E56C-9F08-42D5-B289-50102763344F.jpeg 676C5FB9-A092-4CCF-A96D-A5C2FE72D953.jpeg 53020AE6-2EAA-40B0-9501-59A79E46155E.jpeg
