I believe with the automatic discharger, you have to select the target voltage. Did you remember to set it to 84V as you began the 2nd discharge cycle?

Of course but the first case set to discharge 134V and last time that I checked the voltage was 143V. After 1 hour the discharger was idle, buzzer on voltage 151V. So may be I was late with checking the status. Is this possible?

That number appears to be within the bounce-back range mentioned in post 640. I remember discussions about this when the intelligent discharger first started shipping. @jeff652 assured people this was to be expected.

Probably. It bounces back quite a bit when you stop discharging. I have the manual discharger (light bulbs) and it's pretty amazing to watch the volt meter climb when I unscrew a bulb to change them.

This bouncing back is not hurting the hv battery?

Nope. It's normal battery behavior. All rechargeables do that as far as I know.

Happy to help. Once my wife's battery gets old enough to need grid charging, I'll definitely be wanting one of those automatic dischargers. I have the old original square, black Prolong with the lightbulb discharger. Lots of babysitting there.

I'm on my third discharge now, and there might be some rain during the final charging. Is it "safe" to pause during this charging in order to roll my other 3 windows up? I assume stopping the charge midway and resuming once the weather passes is even less advisable.

I just finished the third discharge that to 17 V. Now one more step. Final charge and balancing. Screenshot_20180320-220222.jpg

You can roll the windows up;).

The bulb discharge guys have to take momentary pauses to change bulbs:whistle:.

Good luck and keep us posted (y).

I’m impressed you caught the exact voltage:).

It cycles pretty quick at the very low voltages;).

    Keep us posted (y).

Surprised you were able to catch it right at 17. Watched mine from 18-17 and as soon as it hit 17 it immediately shot up to 30+
welp, I've already started the last charge, so I assume it's not a good idea to do so without waiting for an hour or more for the battery to cool

You can use accessory mode as that won’t engage the hybrid battery
    ;).

And rolling the windows up only takes a few seconds:).

Or open the doors and put blankets or towels over the windows, then close the doors and it will prevent severe water intrusion (y).

Reconditioning the pack made the bad module/s worse (was only .02 off prior).

I expect I'll find corrosion on the connection. Wonder if cleaning this first would have allowed the prolong process to work. If anyone knows of a shop in New England that will replace the bad module/s and clean the bus bars for a reasonable price, I'm looking for suggestions.

Odd that the delta is not reflecting that difference in voltage of block 7.

The prolong works best if the pack is just tired and has not thrown codes yet. Fully discharging and chArging will sometimes reveal a weak module,
But at least you have rejuvenated the rest of the modules,

The whack a mole pack rebuild is dicey. If you find a rebuilder locally and hopefully not in Craig’s list post them here first for reviews. Some are really bad and outright crooked.

I wish PC would have a battery rebuilder forum. Just reviews of pack rebuilders and posters could post there experience with them. Now there all over the place.

If you find a rebuilder try searching his name in the Search Forums button on top of this page.

Check out the hybrid automotive website as there is an installer map;).

I’d try calling them and seeing what they do and if they don’t, they might know someone who does :).

Block 7 is your suspect though(y).

It is probably more of a case that Block 7 was not capable of being recovered whereas the other blocks have been balanced.

Block 7 indicates problems with at least 2 cells within the block, One in each module? Or both in the same one, if you're lucky.

replacing both just to be safe. will diagnose them later to see which, if either, is worth keeping
