Blue Magnetism Touch-Up Paint any one?

i ordered a touch up paint from parts department and it took 1.5 weeks to arrive. Dried paint is (i think) a exact match. will post pics later.

 

I got so many dents in my front. I will have to touch up every week. It’s something unavoidable, so I chose to accept the condition of my situation. I force myself to look at my car as Dalmatian. Such painful decisions to make

 

Clean chip and a little bit beyond with isopropyl alchohol. Make sure there's no loose paint. Apply touch up paint, maybe with a tooth pick, as surgically as possible, and stop while it's still wet. Wait an hour and apply a second time, going a little further. If the touch up paint is pen style, with color coat and clear coat, I'd be inclined to avoid the clear coat: I've found it prone to lift the color coat.

If you're getting a lot of hood chips maybe need to increase following distance.

 

Sounds like a Dupli-Color pen. Look on the box, it's described as "Abrasive tip, removes loose paint and rust". I've got one of those, and also a Toyota Pen, not sure which I prefer.

One thing with the Dupli-Color, seems like I ALWAYS manage to open it upside down, the first time, lol.

 

I can understand your concern, and admire your sense of pride in your Prius, but here's a tip: don't agonize over the small stuff. I look on the small dings and chips on my 2009 Gen II (131,000miles) as scars (think Heidelberg) - they can be filled/repaired/painted with touch-up paint, but my Prius wears its scars with pride!
In fact, here's what I did with my Toyota Corolla DX Wagon, after a fallen branch put a very distinct (but small) dent in the tail-gate. The dent was about ½" deep, and about 1½"x1½", so I sealed where the paint had broken, filled it with Bondo, and painted it (to seal the filler) the car was white, and fashioned a "patch" from a piece of grey GafferTape, with rounded corners, and then made some "sutures" from back GafferTape, each "suture" being about ½"x¼" and stuck at right-angles to the edge of the patch, making it look like the patch was stitched to the car. (I'll try to find some pics.) and yes, the hard nib is to prepare the surface, just follow the instructions! Good Luck!

 

Not sure if this applies to all the extra cost colors, but since you said you saw white underneath...

You might need to put a base coat of Toyota Super White, then the special color, then top with clear coat. Definitely applies to Blizzard Pearl, may apply to the other metallic colors, YMMV.

McGeorge Toyota is one I use, just for part look up. No dealership nearby?

Just walking into a local (Canadian) Toyota dealership parts department, their touch-up pen (color one end, clear the other) was $13.58 (CDN). FWIW, part number (for Classic Silver Metallic, code IF7) was: C0355-001F7.

 

With the pen style and tiny dings, I've resorted to loading it up with paint, then picking up a bit of that paint with a toothpick, applying it thus.

 

Best touch up brush ever...one dab on chip fills in perfectly.. then toss when done.
