My best this month so far has been 37 miles on EV.

I'm in NYC. Got prime premium for 5 months now. 95% jamed expressway at 15mph daily commute. Full charge for 30 miles in winter. Now at 70 degree I got around 39 or 40 miles per charge. Only used gas when travel outside new York. The displayed mile per kwh is now 4.8

I hit 39.4 Actual EV miles yesterday, with 38.5 showing up on the Guess-O-Meter this morning. Getting oh so close to the 40 mile EV club :)

Started with 25 miles. Now I am consistently getting 30+ miles.

    It's about 5 mile/KWh = About 2 cents per mile (@ 12 cents / KWh)

On HV mode I get 65 MPG = About 4 cents per mile (@ $2.76/gallon)

    Both are impressive numbers.

I didn't realize the Prime had a mile per kWh readout. What are most people seeing for their average?

I'm getting about 30 around town. Yesterday I was stuck in the 93 Ted Williams tunnel on the way to the airport to pick up our daughter - this is in Boston - I was in that $%^& tunnel for over an hour. It should take 5 minutes. It took me about 2.5 hours during rush hour to drive 21 miles (and drove 4 miles in the morning). With lights on, slight cooling, radio on to try and figure out what was going on/calling daughter, I made it all in EV mode. Most likely because I was going 0 mph much of the time, with my foot on the brake. THAT is the good news from that trip. If it had been an ICE engine, that would NOT have been the case.

The past several daily mi/kWh readout have been between 5.0 and 5.2. If I keep that screen on the display, it starts off low like around 4, but after 4-5 miles it seems to stabilize around 5ish.

I expect the number to be a bit higher in warmer weather, or if my trips were over my average of 9 miles when the battery is up to temperature (my morning outside temperatures are still usually in the low 50s).

Dynamic cruise control works well in situations like this. You don't have to hold down the brake pedal and go forward by hitting accelerator or hit resume.

I am seeing a pretty consistent 3.9 mi/kwh. My commute has almost constant up/down hills both ways.

I have taken a lot of flack over the years from some when pointing out how not all EV is equal. There are a few plug-in vehicles that guzzle electricity in comparison.

This is proof of that... and confirmation of how efficient of a system Toyota delivered.

I thought you need to be going over 25 mpg in order to activate it?

The traffic stopped suddenly on the ramp, then it was stop...go 1 mph. Stop..........go 1 mph.....stop....swear.....repeat. I just figured out that it wasn't quite the Ted Williams Tunnel - It was on the feeder tunnel/road to 90 "East" - under Fort Point Channel, then you are fed into the Ted Williams Tunnel. There were two lanes in this feeder tunnel; the lane on the right goes into Boston; the lane on the left towards the airport.

For those of you more visual people, the following YouTube video:

I was in sitting traffic from about 1:00 to 1:19 - that part took me well over an hour. Then onto the Ted Williams Tunnel and the airport.

Dynamic cruise control won't work in this type of traffic, will it?

The main point being that my full electric charge lasted the 2.5 hours it took me to make the 19 mile or so trip, plus the 4 miles to get to work in the morning. I was impressed. I thought it would deplete the charge considering all the electrics, some climate use, etc.

    >Examples of the 'flak'?

    >>Examples of the vehicles?
Of course a 5000 lb. Tesla is going to require more electrons to roll down the road. Nature of the beast.

But what about other PHEV's and BEV's.
Can you point to the "Guzzlers"?
Is there a list of average kWh/mile for EV vehicles?
(Average is a strange thing since everyone drives differently and lives in different climates.
These numbers swing with the seasons.)

Also some PHEV and BEV vehicles have full featured TMS to keep the battery temp happy.
And some have just a fan to waft cabin air over the cells. And some don't even have that (Leaf).

So at the sake of battery pack life, some EV's use more 'Wall to Wheel' power for TMS (when required).
However, 'Battery to Wheel' numbers may be very similar.
It probably comes down to weight and aero of the different EV cars.

It should but just be aware of the merge point at 1:19...It may cancel or act differently.

Near 4.0 in winter, and up to 4.8 in better weather. Not too shabby, compared with Teslas, but then Teslas weigh a couple thousand pounds more.

My wife and I are usually in the range between 5.2 to 6.2 depending heavily on traffic, destination and wind direction.

These are among the more efficient, since the minivan & SUV choices are larger & heavier:

    31 kWh/100 mi = 2018 Chevy Volt

    30 kWh/100 mi = 2018 Nissan Leaf

    28 kWh/100 mi = 2018 Chevy Bolt

    28 kWh/100 mi = 2018 VW e-Golf EV

    28 kWh/100 mi = 2018 Hyundai Ioniq PHEV

    26 kWh/100 mi = 2017 Toyota Prius Prime

    25 kWh/100 mi = 2018 Hyundai Ioniq EV

Thanks. That's very good data to have for a potential PHEV or BEV buyer.
This shows a max of $0.75 difference best to worst for a 100 Mile trip, ($0.125/kWh)
Although as said, these numbers change seasonally. (Where did this "average" come from?)

I assume this is 'Battery to Wheel' measurements.
If it's 'Wall to Wheel', that's even better!

This is info needed to calculate TCO.
Keep in mind some of these PHEV's may run the engine if you are not gentle on the GO pedal.
Some still require 10k oil changes, regardless, and don't consume power with a proper TMS for a long-life pack.
And then there are EV performance factors, like fun !!
There are many aspects that can't be factored into a TCO calculation.

It's full fledged summer in Memphis. I live in the suburbs with temps around 90 and the car is showing about 33 miles on full charge and real miles of 30 miles in eco mode driving city miles, no highway speeds. Enjoying my 8.5 cents/kwh cost which translates to about 53 cents to charge and translates to 141 mpg. gas equivalent at gasoline prices of 2.50/gal. Enjoying my ride with few exceptions except for not being able to monitor my tire pressures.

I’ve been getting 32 miles on last couple charges. Real world of 30 non highway miles. Pretty consistent. Mixed temps of 50’s-60’s in the mornings. Just finished my second full tank of gas. Combined mileage:
    14EFCD7F-DAC8-444B-B6AD-CB144EB3E78C.jpeg 4F858006-A766-4468-AD3E-82749959A0A4.jpeg
I didn’t wait for low on fuel indicator. Wonder if filling up sooner is better. But gas has gotten more expensive here in NY. Now at $2.97/gal.
