Except it is not false, but exactly right.

So given that, again I ask, why does it matter that the pack is a mix of different generations of modules. They are all being recycled.

I had enough trips around the sun to come to the realization, like many others before me, that the ultimate answer to any question of why about the actions of mankind is...... money.

"sign of previous removal of cover" - So I guess my core would not be accepted? Not really fair as the vent tube smell was a known issue for which Toyota never admitted fault.

Not necessarily, what I am thinking is that an over-zealous dealer MIGHT use this TSB as a guide for what to reject. It actually only covers warranty repair, but they might try to apply it to a core return.
I uploaded it just to show what sort details they may be looking for. (AND, this is the original, it has been revised, but I can't locate the revised version. :()

Are you hoping for a warranty replacement?

If not, I shouldn't think whatever is the criteria for a warranty replacement would have much bearing, and long as your core contained all OEM modules. Even better if they were still all the original modules. It would be interesting what, or if, they say anything about the non-OEM vent tubes.

My battery is still working without issue and I've never replaced any modules. I'm just planning ahead if/when my battery inevitably fails.... will Toyota accept my core if I buy a new oem battery? Otherwise, I'll likely purchase a 2k1Toaster kit.

Personally, I think you'll be fine. But, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, you won't really know for sure until you have a failed battery and actually ask them.

Please do not hijack this thread.
@2k1Toaster has posted verified test results of his product and has tested his known competition at the time and found them lacking.

If you can prove you have a quality alternative product, we are willing to listen. You have so far posted no information whatsoever about your product.

We need to be skeptical because there are far too many companies preying on people looking for Prius batteries and delivering inferior products.

Hello everyone! I don't remember did I seen brand and specs for individual cells? Just trying to understand how long my new pack will last...
Just small question about shipping. When I did preorder is says what next shipment date is 1oct. So, does it gonna happen to go to me tomorrow?
P.s. my order is 202 by the way.

I recommend you “start a conversation “ with @2k1Toaster here to private message him directly. After he receives his container shipment he repackages the cells to individual orders.

The expectation is it is just as good as the original. If you live where the pavement gets squishy in the summer because it is so hot, it won't last as long as if you live where you have to build your house's roof extra strong just to support a winter's worth of snow.

I am the brand. Spec's are equivalent to the PrimeEarth ones in a Prius: 12 NiMH cells per battery block with a nominal voltage of 14.4v per block with a 6.5Ah capacity.

The expectation was to get the shipment by today and ship them out on Oct. 1st. Right now the truck is scheduled to be delivered on Wed Oct 3rd. Assuming the delivery happens properly, yours should go out that Thursday or Friday. The order numbers are kind of meaningless since we do direct order through PO/email for bulk units and international lots of the time and 1 order number can have 10 batteries in it. Last time I hired some extra help to work through the night to get stuff packed up and shipped out. I have that lined up again for Wednesday evening, so hopefully most people will get shipment notifications throughout Wed late night to Thursday early AM.

Just a quick clarification: We actually fully test and characterize each battery module at the factory. We then match like-with-like to make each kit and print the serialization number ontop making that a single kit. So when they arrive via container it is more of just a damage inspection and module test but we keep the kits together. The boxes that hold the modules work fine for shipping in a container that is never going to be flipped upside down and is strapped and wrapped onto a heavy duty pallet and tied down in a huge metal shell! But it won't survive the normal last-mile delivery. So we repackage differently and send out.

We took feedback from the first few months where we had 3 incidents of damage, 1 required replacement modules. Changed up the packaging and so far no damage even with increased shipments. I am currently working with my paper and pulp contacts in Chengdu to make custom packaging and first samples of that should arrive near Christmas time. Hopefully order by February or so will be in fully custom packaging designed to protect the batteries in transit and beyond. And it is my hope that the design of the packaging will allow customers to resell their battery modules on third party sites (like eBay) more easily, re-using the boxes.

Well no freight truck today... I guess everyone can go home and we'll try again for tomorrow. The fright industry in the US is really weird.

Good and bad to be back on Prius chat... Earlier this year I had the dreaded Inveter failure.... was jacked around a bit by the dealer but they finally did the repair at no charge (warranty) 3rd owner 196,000 miles. Now the Traction battery (P0A80) only code, car drives ready light and two or three other lights on. I am going to purchase from New Prius Batteries. I never would have got the new inveter without the help and info on here. I noticed that the covers that go on the two bars that hold the batteries in were not on there. So I'm assuming that the battery has already been worked on. Also when it threw the code today the traction light came on but went away when I had the codes checked at AutoZone. When the inveter went out the dash looked like a Christmas Tree.

highly appreciate if someone can explain the difference to me for both type battery replacement. Maybe some pros and cons will be helpful for me to decide. Prismatic VS Cylindrical.jpg

    Gen-1 Original Prismatic Battery
    • Youngest ones made in 2003, nearly 15 years ago.
    • Terminals are weak so heat can force H{2} and O{2} out gassing that dehydrates the cells
    • Narrow, air cooling space between plates makes cooling marginal
    • 6-cells per module
New D Cell Battery Module (same as two Gen-1 modules)
    • Newly constructed, ~2016 and later, using robust modern cell construction
    • Higher surface area-to-volume for improved cooling
    • Plug compatible with Gen-1, Gen-2, and Gen-3 battery controller
It is the most advanced, NiMH module construction that due to improved cooling is significantly improved over the prismatic cells. Best of all, takes advantage of non-proprietary "D" cells so in theory, cheaper than the original.
