Cold air Intake? - Not a Joke or Noob question

    I'm going to use the stock MAF housing. I think I have a prototype made. Just need to order the tubing that will connect to it.

    got pix? the oe maf housing is the bottleneck on the intake side. throttle blade is about 2", maf housing in the airbox is closer to 1.5".

    I like it!!! almost looks like a carburetor should go under that filter. you are very persistent to remold the maf housing like that. so you gonna eventually shove the filter down below the rh headlight? that seems like the best spot for cooler air to me.

    Checked out your blog. Nicely done on the MAF housing. Def cheaper than my route and shouldn't cause ANY problems. As long as you use the 2" diameter at the MAF..which you are, you can use any size before OR after the MAF. Just need to match up the piping to the 2" throttle opening.

    Pretty cool. Keep us posted.

    sounds good from inside the car. Makes a faint hiss sound and suction noise when engine turns off.

    Another Prius owner that does autox, I love it. Sounds like you need some r-comps though. Great run!!!!

    Makes me miss my old 2nd gen, it was.....umm....unique :)

    Bringing this back from the dead, as I saw the PriusChat shop has a Injen Short Ram Cold Air Intake. I guess it is not worth bothering with for a Gen 3?

    If you like noise, and don't mind that it stops at odd times you can make more noise. If you want good filtration, stay stock.

    As your car is a Gen 3, try asking your question in the equivalent Gen 3 forum. It is more likely the people there will have Gen 3 parts.

    Hi Dave 09. I have an 09 and the air intake resonator got mashed. It looks like the only issue with not replacing it is having it moderate water being splashed into the engine. I have been driving without it for about 500 miles and getting better milage. Especially in the city. Did you have any issues with water puddles? I havent driven in heavy rain yet. Tuf in brooklyn ny
