    Thanks.
Actually, I just finished fixing mine after it ran away this spring and found a tree. Needed to replace the generator, radiator, and a woodruff key in the steering box.
I had to argue with my grown son that I needed a generator, not an alternator. I told you the design is old. Voltage regulator, carburetor, coil, distributor points. It's all in there.

I stand corrected... I searched online and many recommended rinsing with water to dilute the spilled gas. And if water is not available, get a paper towel and soak it in the squeegee water and squeeze it out over the spill several times. Wash and wax when you get home.

I'll wager near everybody uses the sponge side of the windshield washer brush...

The downside to any action rinsing off the car: is gas washing into storm sewers, which often ends up in nearby streams.

Thank you for your post. I’ve been experiencing this problem with my 2016 Prius since I bought it several years ago. I’m looking forward to seeing if this is the cause, and solution, to a problem that I’ve been getting the run around about from Toyota and my local dealership for years! Thank you again to all of you who have posted info on a problem, “that we’ve never heard of before”!

There was a (recall? TSB?) to replace a weak fuel door spring on some cars.

I have a 2015 Prius 2 which supposed to have a redesigned fuel tank but still filling gas has always been a problem. Got to fill her up slowly, otherwise fuel would spill. I’ve done all that has been recommended but nothing works. I guess I got to live with it until this flaw is corrected.

2015 is last year of 3rd gen, a gen with little or no gas tank filling problems?

Definitely totally different than the system discussed in this thread.

Thanks. Tried that trick on my 2015 Prius but it didn’t help.

That is because you have a Gen 3 Prius not a Gen 4. They described a Gen 4 issue.

I’m experiencing this problem with my 2019 Prius LE. I’m wondering if there’s other 2019 owners that are experiencing this problem. Next time my feel I’m going to make sure to open my fuel door all the way and not touch the fuel door latch.
