you can plug it into most any 15 amp 120v socket that doesn't have anything else running on it

the battery won't be 10 years old unit 2022. just plug it into an outlet and plug it into the car. wait 3 hours for it to charge and try your route

A full charge usually takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes for me. You know it's done when the charge light at the input port goes out. (The Entune app would also tell you the state of charge and the EV range). With any charge over 20% the car should automatically be in EV mode when you power on. Bear in mind that the indicated EV range is an estimate, based on recent driving habits and usually lower than the best you can do when you try to drive for maximum range. Yes, and calling for any amount of heat will instantly start the engine.

This and a pair of pliers will handle almost any puncture in the tread area if you carry a mini air compressor. Check the little trunk for the Toyota flat kit anyway. You should find a bottle of Toyota slime and a Toyota compressor that only works when connected to the bottle. If you ever go that route, you'll need to have the tire serviced and the TPMS valve replaced.

I'm having some trouble posting the Amazon link, (maybe it's not allowed?). Anyway, it's the Slime 1034-A T-Handle Tire Plug Kit. Similar kits are generally available.

One other thing missing in the repair picture is a pair of some kind of pliers to remove whatever is stuck in your tire.

 

Allow me to chime in, please. Pluggo has an advanced model and the base model you're looking at doesn't have all the same bells and whistles.

Entune gives me no information on state of charge on my base model. In fact, if does nothing useful at all, imho. I recently installed the update on my phone app and it wants me to log in or start an account. Not sure what that's about, but I have other stuff to do. Others may feel differently, but you won't find may people here who have much use for it.

Unlike the non-plug in Prius, the PiP will not go into EV mode at all unless you have some EV range available. Once the EV range hits 0, the EV button won't work until you get the battery charged up. This can sometimes be done with a very large, steep hill, which you won't find in FL, or by plugging it in. Kind of annoying sometimes, but I can't complain since I average around 120 mpg in typical driving. It's the road trips where I don't get to plug in that bring it down.

While the EV button does nothing without some EV battery range showing, you can still drive it in EV for a ways under about 42 mph once the engine is warm just using a gentle right foot, just like the other Prii.

That's very reasonable depending on the speed and air conditioning. I have almost 84,000 miles on my PiP. Much of my driving is 45-60 mph with a stop at least once a mile and needing the a/c. Worst possible mileage conditions! I get about 10-11 miles in those situations. If I'm in Tampa and save my charge till I get there, I can get more like 14 miles. Air conditioning will take as much as two miles off of your range.

As for testing the EVSE cable, you'll just need to plug it in. As @bisco said, any 120V 15A outlet will do as long as there is no other load on that breaker.

 

a major consideration for any ben 3 with 130k is the egr circuit. nt knowing how many miles of ev/hv means planning on checking/cleaning everything before the head gasket blow, and adding an oil catch can if possible.

you can take it to any toyota dealer for a thorough exam before buying, but there's never a guarantee that they will make a good job of it, unless you know their reputation in the service dept., and most florida dealers are poly a bit light on hybrid knowledge, never mind plug ins.
