Read Lee Jay's comment. He claims 20-30% hit continued and never recovered.

I've also had some new tires where mpg didn't skip a beat.

I'm going with Ecopias when it comes time for new rubber. I've had great experiences with them on my 2004 Prius. When the weather turned cold about a month ago, I instantly lost 5mpg. I would say that some loss is due to the cold weather, some due the newer tires and some due to the fact that you are riding on different tires from oem. Have you checked your tires pressures after getting the tires installed?

When I put Bridgestone turanza Serenities on our 2010 at 120 k miles, I was averaging 48 mpg displayed. With the previous Coopers I was at 47 and they only lasted 65 k miles.

The original Ecopias lasted 55 k miles and delivered 50 mpg.

Now with 192 k miles on the Prius we’re at 49.4 mpg displayed.

So not much difference here between different brands.

I buy based on tread life and will be looking for another round of Serenities when these give up the ghost.

Yeah...new tires have more rolling resistance than old ones, but this is worse. I'm wondering if it'll improve after break-in. I've only got a few hundred miles on them.

Of course, on PRIME it is difficult to compare mpg from different set of tires. And EV range can vary day to day even with a same set of tires. I don't know what is the good way to compare one set of tire and another set on PRIME for fuel efficiency except running full tank of gas without any charging, which is what I am doing on my new set of Michelin Xice winter tires.

This is my 3rd set of Michelin Energy Saver A/S. I have 800 miles on new tires. I always got good gas mileage with new tires without breaking in period with the exception of this set.

But you're not running either 51 or 44 - that's only the tyre's maximum safe pressure, irrelevant - your pressure is on the tyre pressure placard inside the door.

They need running in - 1000 kms. Is this just one tank-ful - use a couple of tanks, not just the first one, as you can get a false reading with any tank refill. Do you normally log your fills?

Not sure about your temperature there - if it's cooling down, and particularly if you've got a Li-ION battery, that will affect economy.

What are they like to drive on - better grip?

He mentioned he got a new alignment also. I'd also look into that. Perhaps they made a mistake. That would certainly effect mileage also.
