Prius Prime Pre Collision System (PCS) any way to check if OK?

    Is there a way to check if Prius Prime Pre Collision System (PCS) is working. I had gotten a message about malfunction while driving ... Not sure what it was about as It was on the second day I had the car.

    I have set PCS to warn at the farthest distance, and I tested it somewhat when I had to break suddenly with a car that had stopped in front of me. No messages/alerts

    short of going to the dealer. any way to confirm it is working? ODBII scan?

    Not sure.
    I have thought it would be interesting to test by driving towards a test object. Something large enough to simulate another vehicle/pedestrian but little mass. Maybe an empty cardboard box from a refrigerator with some soft foam. Just in case.
    Never had the guts.

    If you’re concerned that the system might have been turned off, check the setting in the multi-information display. Under ⚙️, make sure the Pre-Collision System On/Off setting is On, as described on pages 373 and 231–232 of the Owner’s Manual (PDF). If the system is off, the PCS warning light should be on.

    As the Repair Manual (more info) describes, the system does self-diagnostic checks each time the car is started and while the car is operating. If a malfunction is detected, “the PCS warning light in the combination meter assembly will blink and a warning message indicating the pre-collision system is malfunctioning or disabled will be displayed on the multi-information display.”

    If you see neither the warning light nor a warning message, it’s safe to assume the system is working.
    To investigate past faults, it would be necessary to use the Health Check function of a Toyota Techstream diagnostic system, or a third-party system with equivalent capabilities, to retrieve any diagnostic trouble codes that might have been stored in the forward recognition camera, millimeter wave radar sensor assembly, driving support ECU assembly, skid control ECU, or other computers involved in the PCS system.

    “OBD II,” strictly speaking, refers only to the on-board diagnostic capabilities required by emissions regulations. Inexpensive scan tools made for engine and emissions diagnosis use the same diagnostic connector as a Techstream system but are unlikely to be able to communicate with the PCS ECUs.

    When I mentioned the OBD, I was wondering if an app like Carista would show any past error codes

    Hello guys i got prius 2016 and its pre collision light was continously blinking i went to workshop they asked me to change pre collision radar installed on back of front bumper monogram i spended 350$ and replaced it my car was fine but now again it has started the same issue pre collision light is continously blinking
