Thanks, Jerry. I would jump on it if I thought it would fix my issue. I think if I get this battery I will still have the problem of low voltage in the 12V outlets since everything works fine as long as the car is not shifted to DRIVE, plus I will open the door for Toyota to claim whoever installed the battery caused the problem.

It could be a case of their data base not knowing, even though it is compatible.

Could that be the physical key? Somebody should smack those manual writers, lol.

Hopefully that is not critical, because lordy that's a lot to do, every time the 12 volt battery neg cable has been disconnected.

Addendum: that second bullet point is mentioned in Owner's Manual relating to the "Simple Advanced Parking Guidance System".

Both simple and advanced, best of both worlds...

    Cranky this morning...

Not sure, but I think "electrical key transmitter sub-assembly switch" is the fob.

    I need to be restrained...

agreed, key fob button, or something similar would be helpful. tech writers need editors too.

I’ve disconnected my battery several times installing an aftermarket radio and forgot to do all that even though I posted in this thread a while ago.

Nothing bad happened, everything functioned normally. It just recalibrated whenever it had the chance I guess or the calibration wasn’t that significant.

Has anyone been successful in sourcing a battery? Mine is dead, it seems no one carries it, nor able to order it.

Advanced Auto said the only thing they could do was open a customer service request, they weren't able to order one either.

Dealer has been trying to order one for their vehicle for a month they said, with no ETA on the backorder.

Has anyone replaced it with even a similar sized battery and secured it in a different fashion (since that seems to be the only unique thing about it is the securing 'wedge')?

    Thanks,
    Josh

I can't seem to edit my previous post, but I ended up seeing Elektroingenieur's post in this thread and managed to find only one in my area. It fit in the stock battery tray with no problem, and the holder wedge works just fine with it too. They look identical, with the Duralast having a little more CCA than the stock battery I had.

It could just be my area is hard to find even this battery (out of dozens of stores), but at least I was able to come across this.

    Thanks for the info!

have you tried advanced auto on line?

you can use just about anything. measure it, and the posts. go anywhere and look for something close.

I have noticed, after 12 volt disconnect (on my 3rd gen), for the next 2 or 3 start ups, the engine does an odd rev-up, for perhaps 10 seconds, like it's calibrating something.

Hey funnily enough I was the one who made that topic! I still havent replaced the battery because it seemed to work fine for a weeks so I thought maybe I left a light on.... but of course this morning its fully dead and I cant even jump it. Even turning the car off would result in the dash lights flashing and I could hear a noise. Its almost like it didnt even have enough juice to fully shutoff which is weird. Although when you turn the car off it displays stuff still so maybe it was freaking out because low voltage still. I tried a traditional jump for like 30 minutes and never got a READY light...

Anyways, EVERY dealer says the official batter is on back order and no one has it. I have been frantically searched around but no one has actually confirmed that a different battery will work. I am scared to void a warranty or cause more harm.

Did you end up buying the duralast H4-DL? (or has anyone here done so) If so, it has worked great for you so far? I may run to Autozone today then and grab one if it worked for you. I have a normal 2016 Prius 3.
