Car powered off and won't turn back on. Was stranded on the side of the road at midnight.

The other part I like about remivi g the headlight assembly is that is makes it less likely to spill fluid.

JC says the pump is shorted dont plug it back in.....needs new pump...

Bisco says no new fuse needs pump

    Then:

I replaced the fuse and no turbulence.

LOL... Is there something in the water that's making everyone so stupid? My head is so sore banging it on my desk reading these posts.

    No iPhone, have a galaxy

    I'm getting the pump tomorrow.
A shop quotes $100 to install.
(I don't have hose vice grips so its tempting)

Yeah, I originally had it towed at 2am because it was a big piece of metal near an intersection.
And when I towed it, the tow truck put it on a less than ideal place on the property.

So... I replaced the fuse to be able to park it a little better... and since the car was on, and the fuse is cheap, I left it on to check turbulence. Honestly I was just happy to see it start.

Hope that makes a little more sense.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

    Good deal.
My guy charged me $350 recently and I got the pump myself off Amazon.
Toyota dealer quoted me $750-ish for pump and install.

As aside, I did get stranded by 7-yr old Optima 12v, in a near-by school parking lot. But I was able to finally get it started to get home and put in a new Optima. Then then inverter pump went following week.

$100 to install is a good deal.

You can probably find the clamps at your local auto parts store ore harbor freight. ($20-$30?)

Just how much will one lose by quickly removing hose, pointing/holding it up till reinstalled? Or using large vice-grips to clamp?

My 06 had the recall pump campaign done but I want to change that one out based on time as a piece of mind preventative measure.

    I hate those plastic clamps.
    I prefer metal ones.

    Got the replacement and installed.
There is water turbulence in the coolant reservoir when car is on.

Thanks again for all the help.

I now have a new Optima Battery and a new coolant pump. The brake actuator was also done and i have a spare skid ecu. I hope there isn't more surprises.

6 month update. I get the odd P1121, P1116 code from time to time, sometimes after filling gas. My coolant is topped off and isn't leaking. Info from the forum says I shouldn't be too worried since it's for cold starts and cabin heat.

Called a place because I was interested in hybrid battery diagnostic and the guy said no need if I wasn't having a problem. (Still getting 45mpg +)

Was quoted 1200 to rebalance battery tho and would have to leave it for a week. (I read the info regarding the $400 reconditioners and not sure if I'm up for that). Gonna run as is for now.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year
    Aloha

$1200 to rebalance a battery is crazy expensive. If I were to do this, it would be no more than $100. All you do is leave a charger and discharger on. You don't have to physically do anything

I read some instructions and you still have to take out the rear seats and connect everything directly to the battery, right?

You can get to that battery in about 10 minutes, minimal disassembly required.

My $6 cigarette lighter air tire pump gave great service, then quit. Replaced the dollar fuse, now works top-notch, again..... no $500 tow.

    No need

And you don’t have to fully remove the battery to install the cable

Check coolant level by removing the radiator cap, do not be satisfied just by looking at the reservoir.

OK, you probably don't care too much about cabin heat in Hawaii - so there is no immediate need to replace the engine coolant valve until you have state emissions testing which requires no logged DTC and no check engine light.
