Engine seized? 118k miles

    I think I was misunderstanding how the egr disconnected from the manifold. I also hope I had missed a bolt on the exhaust bracket. I need to get it out because if I wait too long ill forget exactly how things went... even with my pictures.

    Jeep was an easy fix. Thing always needs parts. We were car shopping for her for a while but decided to keep it a little longer.

    Mine was apart for so long, I felt the same way. But as soon as it started going back together, everything came to me like a flood.

    I have 2: a short one for the particular stud and a longer one for the other studs in the process(y).

    Thanks. Mine is so corroded I could not yell which was welded. The stud or the nut. Got the top one out don't have the right length extension to get the bottom one right now

    Got it off by using two 3/8 and 1/4 adapters. Everything is off and ready to come out except the fuel line and my fuel line tool is at home. I also need to figure out where I am going to hoist it from. I only found 6 bell housing bolts. Not sure if there is more.

    If memory serves me, if you unbolt the fuel rail from the head, it will rotate down, out, and up to the driver side and be out of the way. This is without undoing the fuel line.

    As for bell housing bolts, the two on the starter cover plate, two just below the water outlet pipes on the head, three along the bottom, and two along the back, directly opposite the starter cover plate.

    As far as lifting it out, I used the transaxle side lower intake stud, and the pulley side lower exhaust stud. You want your cherry picker as close to the engine as possible, as you need quite a bit of height to get the engine to clear the front of the car.

    I don't know what kind of head it has on it but I would double nut the exposed end with the good threads to break it loose.

    Damper failure. That snapped the shaft coming out of the transaxle.

    Transaxle is significantly less then an engine. Only a couple hundred. I think you could drain the transaxle, pull the input shaft and replace it. But you would need a schematic to be sure.

    I haven't been able to review your links yet but from what I can tell I would have to disassemble entire transmission to repair.

    I believe that if you have this mainshaft, it could be serviced in this way. Possibly.
