    Thanks for your reply.

I have gone over everything again thinking maybe i missed something but i cant trace it. When its ok it runs so smooth but im noticing that its mainly at a stop or standstill where my issues arise.
I can smell fumes as well at standstill. The charging indicator will just stop the car wont show as charging then although it might be 60%. Therefore engine wont turn off and i will switch it off manually. I that time the engine will make strange clattering noises. Last few days its been getting to 2 bars engine kicks in but then with 5 seconds it charges a bar and switches off. So charging real quick. And then sometimes it will switch off engine but still be going up in charge on the battery.

No codes apart from P0A80 and c1657 which is hybrid powertrain control module hybrid control system

I still have this annoying hesitation when the engine should kick in while driving along. The car sort of dips then comes to life almost like a bump start

While you still are getting the replace hybrid battery code (indicating there is a problem there which will have other codes associated to tell you where to look), if you have an exhaust odor, something is either not tight or a gasket isn’t seated properly. I would check all gasketry again for the nuts being tight as well as the gasket being there. The hesitation you’re experiencing is due to imbalance in the air to fuel, causing the computer to not know exactly what that is. When it can’t figure it out and you are moving, it’ll be lethargic.

But there are hybrid battery issues to, which will cause poor charging behavior. Have you tried force charging the battery? What happens when you do that?

Good luck and keep us posted (y).

While the car is “ready” and in drive, foot on the brake (parking brake can also be set for safety) apply your foot to the accelerator pedal and see the battery behavior.

Once fully charged, see how long it takes to drain or if it fluctuates;).

Good luck and keep us posted (y).

@Raytheeagle can this be with gear shifter in Park, or does it need to be in Drive?

Ok so i just changed front discs and pads and thought id have a probe around. On the rear side of the engine to the right of the manifold and just below it above the oil filter looking to the front of the car from underneath there is a group of sensors which were covered in oil/grease. I dont think its a leak but there was oil there.

Is there a correct way to put egr solenoid on. I opened that and noticed that had tightened up and was sticking. But when you loosen it or take it off the egr is nice and springy and should be as i spent a long time cleaning it. So when you put solenoid on should you turn it all the way to stuck or leave it loose. Took airboxout and cgecked all vac hoses and sensors and all looks good. But so far the last 2 miles went well fingers crossed.

I remember someone mentioning degreasing or greasing the solenoid. Anyone which it should be

And secondly this force charge thing starts the engine but shuts engine down when i let go of accelerator. If i have the car display on which shows engine inverter and battery sometimes the engine will be running but it only shows the engine running intermittentley

you can't trust that screen, you need instrumentation for accurate data

charging and discharging quickly are bad battery signs

engine roughness is probably a separate issue

Are the busbars easy to do with pulling battery out, or is it a battery out job

Thank you to all who helped massively especially bisco and mendel Leisk.
What a lemon!! I didnt do up the bolts after detatching egr from cooler. So all sortednow running so smooth EXCEPT for some reason it has an intermittent stutter and clatter at standstill. Ive noticed if i switch heating off it normalises and now ive unplugged egr connection it made no difference?

Have i got an egr solenoid problem??
Or possible battery problem if heating off helps??

Deffo running bad at a stop or standstill. Sounds like a misfire engine clatters. So just took of coils 1by1 and they all seem ok. They all made engine revs drop.
    Now im really confused.

No codes either. So all in drives and sounds lovely. Just when pulling to a stop or at a standstill intermittenley sounds horrible and feels horrible

EGR tends to operate at mid-throttle? Maybe your poor idle condition is a vacuum leak, something not put together right? Up the page you also mentioned smelling fumes at idle. Hmmm.

Yes i sorted that. It was the egr loose from cooler. All tight now.

I have noticed its only doing this intermittentley also not doing it as bad when in power mode. It tries to as you slow to a stop but because revs are higher in power mode it doesnt do it. If in nirmal mode when its charging at 2 bars if you switch heating off it helps as well.

So now no smell smooth as new when it behaves just the roughness in charging and delay in starting ice
