Low windshield washer fluid warning/light?

Nop! No improvement in that area from Gen3 to Prime (Gen4 included).

 

I always carry a gallon bottle of washer fluid, just in case I miss catching when it's getting low.

 

Yap, one more sensor and a small indicator are all needed. I don't know what drives their decision on inclusion and exclusion. I would much rather have the low washer fluid warning light on my dash than having the useless nav system, IMHO.

 

i cant recall, but i just filled a few of my cars including the brand new prime (of course not filled at the dealer) i think the prime has a yellow dipstick in the wiper fluid bottle !! lol

our hycam doesn't have either either. i wonder if the new model got it.

 

i normally just fill when it gets empty. am i a barbarian ?

You could fill up preemptively after certain intervals of heavy use, as I have been doing. Added 1.5 quarts to my Suby once last month, more often closer to a pint when checking other things under the hood.

 

I check my cars every week and top off the washer fluid then. I check the oil and look at coolant and brake fluid. I know it sounds a little obsessive but until recently my wife had a long commute on back roads to work. I may switch to every two weeks or monthly now.

When you buy gas, don't those nice uniformed service station attendants top off your washer fluid for you when they're checking the oil? They usually check the air pressure in each tire, make sure the radiator level is full, and add water to the battery if needed, too.



I guess Prime owners must run out of washer fluid because they put gas in their cars so rarely.

 

But I want the cute pink stuff Yota sells.

 

I want Yota fluid that's good to -40F/C. The lowest temp I could find locally was this one from Rain-X, but it's only good to -30F.

 

Fwiw the -40 rating doesn't stop it freezing just below 0C, in some conditions. Not sure how much those ratings mean.

 

Really? I used -20F rated fluid before and it froze on the windshield in winter morning when temp was around 0F, but with this -30F rated fluid last few times I used in the cold morning down to 4F, it did not freeze. We have not had a severe cold this winter, but it's nice to have washer fluid I can use in the cold morning without warring freezing onto the glass.
