Easier than if the eng and trans were still in but still a ways to go.

I thought I was going to be able to remove the trans under the inverter but now that I see how heavy the trans is that will not be happening. Must remove everything unfortunately. I hope this thing makes it back together.... damper disk was a no go and I'm getting refunded for it. Now to find one without spending 500

Is it not possible to remove the trans by doing the following?

    1, Disconnect inverter from transaxle.

    2. Remove passenger axle.

    3. Hook lifting assembly to trans

    4. Undo trans mounts and driver axle.

    5. Shift trans toward passenger side and lift out of the top,

I know this probably doesn’t encompass all that is needed to get the trans out, but it’s got the major things that should be holding it in.

Yeah I will have to strip everything off of the trans.

I need to find a damper.

With all of the listings on eBay for a Gen 3 flywheel, I’d reach out to one of the sellers and ask if they have the damper available.

I don't know that this thing will ever go back together..... trans out. Gotta get the new one in. Then find a damper. Then install engine

Can you install the trans on the engine, then install them together?
Or is there not enough room?

Did you find the proper part number, for the damper? Is it considered part of the engine or transaxle?

Ok, item 31270 on this page:

    And info here:

    DAMPER ASSEMBLY, TRANSMISSION INPUT - p/n: 31270-47060

A mere $906 on the above site. And at McGeorge:

    Discounted price is $597, ugh...

Pretty sparse on EBay right now, one (new?) for $454:

31270-47070 Toyota Damper assy, transmission input 3127047070, New Genuine OEM P | eBay

Some info attached on removal/install, don't see anything on rebuild, as yet:

@Jamesmlemay does the engine turn over easily, say if you've got the spark plugs out and have a socket, extension and ratchet on the crankshaft? Apologies if this is old ground; I'm just wondering how and why that damper seized. Hopefully the damper failure is not the end result of further engine problems.

If i recall correctly, He determined early on that motor spun freely by hand.Had to play some catch up on this thread. For some reason the forum stopped notifying me of updates on this one.

That’s the park lock actuator I believe.

Yeah I agree. I'm afraid that the two may be in different positions though. So if I put my old one on the new trans it mat not work properly.

Umh, was those bolts capped in such way that they were little bit difficult to remove? I remember from weberauto (youtube) gen3 video that there was some part(maybe parking paul) what should not be removed and it had capped bots. Reason was that it then requires dissamble of whole transmission to get it back. I really hope thats not same part in your pics :S

Edit: oh never mind, i remembered wrong. Its just safety thing maybe to not remove it because it frees the park paul lock.

I think that once installed and power is applied to it, it will reset itself to proper position.

I saw the notification of your post in my email. My stomach dropped. I tried to verify for a while but then decided to come read the post. That's a relief.

You can email THE subject matter expert. John Kelly of the Weber Auto channel on YouTube. I emailed him when I was doing my engine swap. He can tell you for sure.
